Anyone who's studied the famous Maunder Minimum knows that when sunspot activity drops to effective zero for a long period of time (in the is case 1645 to 1715), the result is essentially a mini Ice Age. That was why in this period, the Thames River in England and the Seine River in France froze up completely every winter. Indeed, the famous violins and violas from Amati, Guameri and Stardivari in the city of Cremona, Italy were created during the time of the Maunder Minimum, when the wood materials used were much higher density than normal due to the unsually cold winters.

This, plus examples of major volcanic eruptions that spread a lot of fine volcanic ash in the last 50 years (the best examples being Mount St. Helens in 1980, Mt. Pinatubo in 1991 and Eyjafjallajökull in 2010), show that natural events are WAY more powerful than any human activity in changing the Earth's climate.
