Three high-level veterans of former governor Bob McDonnell's administration, two with South Hampton Roads ties, have newly registered as lobbyists for the pro-Medicaid expansion Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association.

They are Janet Vestal Kelly, a past secretary of the commonwealth who attended Regent University, and her husband, Ryan; former U.S. Rep. Thelma Drake of Norfolk, who was McDonnell's public transit director; and Matt Cobb, a deputy health secretary under McDonnell.

(snip)

The hospitals are leading a push to expand Medicaid, a government subsidized health care program, to as many as 400,000 uninsured low-income, Virginians newly eligible under the federal Affordable Care Act.

Did you notice the first sentence, it would give the casual reader the impression these folks are “Veterans” in the military sense.

What people don’t know is that if they’re 55 or older, they’re trading their estates for medical treatment. The states call these ‘recovery’ programs and they take put liens on the victim’s estate.

So all these people who think they’re getting something for nothing with Medicaid better think again. And for those under 55, Obamacare will adopt the same practice once they’ve locked us all in.

More redistribution.

Most people know that,or certainly should know that. Medicaid has been doing that for many years.

The Medicaid look back period is 5 years, so if you shelter your assets 5 years before applying to Medicaid, you can keep it.

OTOH, the VA pension money for nursing homes, which is about $2200/mo for the veteran or $1300 for the surviving spouse, has a zero year look back. You shelter prior to filing with the VA.

Either way, a man has to have a lot of trust in the trustee, which is usually a family member

But there are a lot of stories out there of very wealthy people who sheltered their assets and their bills are being paid by Medicaid.

So go get those people. I've never understood why the government is so inept that it can't punish the wrongdoers without applying the penalties across the board, no individual consideration. The way they're doing it now, someone with only their home to pass onto their children will have zero because they needed medical care. Furthermore, Obamacare is not exactly applying top tier medical care, no cancer hospitals, no new drugs, restricted tests and for that you give them your estate?

Yet if you've been mooching off the gov't all along and never accumulated any property through your own hard work then your medical care really is free.
