Move over Michelle Obama: China’s First Lady Peng Liyuan is now so famous in her own right, the American president’s wife will find herself having to share the spotlight when the two get together today.
During Obama’s visit to China, she’ll no doubt find president Xi Jinping’s wife quite a force to be reckoned with. She’s been named one of Time Magazine’s most influential people in the world. And even if she’s not – yet – a household name across the globe, she was instantly recognisable across her own country even before she became First Lady. A famous folk singer, she’s been watched by generations of Chinese on state TV.

This obsequious fawning is almost amusing, but the nausea.
She is a joke a BOSSY one at that!
That word is illegal.
When words are outlawed, only outlaws will have words!
I wouldn’t mind if they censored her face.
Why should the spouse of any pol be pushing adventurous policy? Shelly already promotes Obamacare and the like, I really don’t see the point in criticizing either political wife on this.
Who cares?
Both aren’t that much glamorous to me.
It’s sad and outrageous that we have to read foreign newspapers to get any news about the Obamas since the American press refuses to do their job.
