PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Law enforcement officials raided the office and home of House Speaker Gordon Fox on Friday as part of a criminal investigation by the U.S. attorney's office, FBI, IRS and state police.

Officials would not say who or what was being investigated, but authorities worked for hours inside the Democratic House speaker's Statehouse office while state police troopers stood outside.

Authorities entered the office carrying an evidence bag and empty cardboard boxes Friday morning. Fox's spokesman, Larry Berman, said state police had asked everyone working in the office to leave, but he didn't know why.

At around 4 p.m., a dozen authorities exited Fox's office carrying boxes and other items.

While there have been no indications that Fox was under investigation, he was previously criticized for his involvement in assisting former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling’s 38 Studio deal which could end up costing Rhode Island taxpayers $89.2 million.

The office of the U.S. Attorney Peter Neronha previously reviewed the 38 Studios deal and its aftermath looking to see if any federal laws were broken, and found no wrong-doing.

“Rhode Island (House) Speaker’s work, home raided in probe”

s/b

“House Speaker Democrat Gordon Fox’ work, home raided in probe”

Another one bites the dust. Apparently Holder looked at the color bar on this one.

Thanks kingattax.

btw:

...Liberals have described Fox as a political conservative, criticizing him for supporting a voter ID law, championing a bill to cut income taxes for high earners, and taking campaign contributions from the National Rifle Association... One of six siblings, Fox is the son of an Irish-American father, a jewelry polisher, and a Cape Verdean mother, who worked as a maid and later at a golf ball factory.[5] The family lived for a time in a Providence apartment with a view of the Statehouse. Fox considers himself mixed race.

I wonder how many state reps and senators will be arrested when the push for an article V convention to propose amendments to neuter DC starts gaining speed....

Just be glad that A) he’s a member of the so-called Democratic Party and B) that eventually some Partisan Media Shill will claim that he is not, further evidence that the PMS undermines the so-called profession of journalism.
