SCOTT WAGNER BEATS THE GOP ESTABLISHMENT - CAP and a Pennsylvania write-in revolt.

First, it was a Florida congressional race. Now? A Pennsylvania special election for the state Senate. The Citizens Alliance of Pennsylvania scores a major win — and yes, the winner says he heard about Obamacare. Scott Wagner is a Pennsylvania state Senator this morning. It wasn’t supposed to happen.

In a stunning upset, the York County businessman, taking a stand against the state’s political establishment of both parties, made state history by winning a special election for the Pennsylvania state Senate — in a write-in landslide, defeating both the Republican and Democrat nominees.

Wagner captured 48 percent of the vote. His Republican opponent, a state representative with the backing of the local and state GOP, received 27 percent; the Democrat 26 percent.

The election was set in motion by the resignation of a sitting Republican senator. The GOP establishment, in this case both in York County (located in the heart of central Pennsylvania) and in Harrisburg, decided to back state Representative Ron Miller...

They just got put on notice.

And as for Corbett... my beef with him is for not coming down with BOTH feet on this lunatic Attorney General for dropping the investigation into four Democrats taking payoffs.

They have over 400 HOURS of video/audio of these four Philly Democrats - and maybe others - taking payoff money, and she dropped the investigation.

She’s Democrat first, and AG second.

And Corbett, in typical GOP fashion, isn’t fighting back at all.

Started in 2005 but didn't get “legs” until 2009.

Not a coincidence I'm sure as that is when the Tea Party Movement exploded on the scene thanks in part to Free Republic.

Check out this video Here with the Executive director of CAP ‘splaining it.

They also take on the unions, needed BIG time!

Not to dash your and others’ enthusiasm, but what works in some relatively homogenous congressional districts, it won’t necessarily work in state or general elections.

The MSM will ignore it or claim it is due to racism or something like that.

I agree with voter ID. We have voter ID here in Oklahoma, I have to show my ID everytime I vote. i know the lady who runs the voting precinct where I vote and she strictly enforces it.

From the York Dispatch

Bridges burned: If Wagner is the certified winner of the race, he’ll fill the seat left vacant by former Sen. Mike Waugh until the session ends Nov. 30.

Wagner must also win the May 20 primary to appear on the ballot for the Nov. 4 general election, the winner of which will fill the seat for a full 4-year term.

Miller, an incumbent representative in the state House from Jacobus, said he’s going to make a decision within the next week about whether to run in the primary.

He didn’t submit a petition to be on the primary ballot for his seat in the House, but both he and Small have done so for the Senate seat. Republican Zack Hearn of Windsor Township is also a contender.

Wagner said he was confident he could handle the fight if the GOP battles him even harder in the primary.

“I don’t fear the Republican Party, trust me,” he said. “They ran their best guy ... and he broke his legs halfway around the track.”

He said a lot of damage has been done over the last 30 days of the race, and he will have to step back and evaluate how to work with a group of 49 other senators that include some same-party incumbents who didn’t want him.

But he said he’ll figure it out.

“I’m not going to the Senate for the next eight years to do nothing,” he said.

Perhaps offering the first olive branch, Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released a statement congratulating Wagner on his presumed victory Tuesday night.

What's the procedure for getting a post, like this one, highlighted in the “Editorial” column on the right side of the page?

Actually all you have to do is check the appropriate box in the 'Highlights' section of the topic screen when you are posting, and it winds up there. The Sidebar Moderator decides whether it is worthy of staying where you posted it.

The win is in the details. A lot of TEA Party candidates would do well with more prep work.

Leadership Institute has some great training programs. FReepers should be regulars for this type of training.
