Jobs: The country's biggest employment agency warns that 38% of private employers will lay off workers if Congress raises the minimum wage. Once again, wage earners are the casualties of waging class warfare.
The White House website's slick presentation on the minimum wage says: "No one who works full time should have to raise their family in poverty." And it promises: "It will lift wages for 28 million Americans. It will give businesses customers with more spending money. It will grow the economy for everyone — and we can do it right now."
Gee, if you don't like your wage, Uncle Sam can raise your wage. Just like he made sure you could keep your health plan.
Those who actually deal with lower-wage workers in the real world of the private sector know the truth. Express Employment Professionals, the huge employment agency, on Wednesday published the fruits of its national survey last month of 1,213 business owners and human resource professionals, 230 of whom pay workers the current minimum wage.
Raising the wage to $10.10 an hour, as President Obama demands, means 38% of employers who pay that wage will be forced to let workers go to cover the cost, it found.
On top of that, 54% would reduce hiring, and 65% would raise prices on their goods and services.
Among all the employers who responded, including ones not currently paying minimum wage, 19% would be forced to lay off workers, 39% would reduce hiring, and 51% would raise prices.

Liberal are not good at common sense or thinking things through to their final conclusion. Their postings and activism are almost always based on emotional responses / knee-jerk reactions, the need for attention, and directed at whoever or whatever is denying them from doing something that is morally wrong not on rational reasoning and a sense of justice or what is right or wrong.
Yesterday, a minimum worker gets $7 plus, can buy a cheeseburger meal for $7.

What, you thought a business gets the extra $3 out of thin air to pay extra for the worker? Inflation, baby! Goods will get jacked up in price. Customers will have more spending money, but won't be able to buy any more than what they bought before. As a matter of fact, they'll have less spending ability because they got kicked into a higher tax bracket. Welcome to Obama's Amerika.

True as it will not help non union unskilled labor or kids trying to get a part time job. It will cost many the job they needed to supplement their income like a number of older folks at Walmart and other stores. The sad part is these clowns in office are lawyers and have no business degree or they would have taken econ 201. Land, labor, and capital are the three factors of production. Raising the price of labor, along with all of the regs and Obamacare is the straw that will break a number of businesses.

Just hearing about the first effects of the Obama minimum wage increases for government contractors. A busy McDonald’s on government leased property just closed at Menriv in Goose Creek SC. Was also accessible to the general public. Under Obama’s edict they would have had to pay the employees 10.10 an hour so they had to close. Story I heard was that other area McD’s absorbed all of the employees but I doubt such a thing was possible. No idea what this will do to other non government concessions on bases but I see many closing.
Btt. Tried to call the Mcd but their number doesn’t work anymore. Employees were told a couple of weeks ago if Obama signed the increase, they would have to close. They did.
People who are on bases please let us know if any other non government concessions have closed. This could be one of the first but not the last.
