Gutierrez (D-4th), 60, a national advocate for immigration reform, is serving his 11th term in Congress.
Gutierrez’s office issued a vague statement of its own, saying the matter before the Ethics Committee related to a “long-standing contract” that was “allowable under House rules” but that was canceled by Gutierrez last year.
USA Today reported last year that Gutierrez paid an Illinois lobbyist more than $500,000 in taxpayer funds to work side-by-side with his congressional staff. The lobbyist, Doug Scofield, the lawmaker's former chief of staff, was paid as a contractor to train staff, review and draft news releases and help publicize Gutierrez's activities, the newspaper said.

US Cong Gutierrez (Dimwit tool of the Third World): "Once Congress approves an immigration increase, minorities should demand more, said Cong Gutierrez (Dim-Third World), a leading advocate of the Senate bill giveaway.
“The next day after we pass it, you know we’re not going to be satisfied, we’re going to come back,” he said. “We’re going to have a civil rights act, we’re going to have a voting rights act… Nobody is leaving this fight once we conclude this first chapter,” he said.
"Hopefully, in 30 years, [we] can bring immigrants… from all over the world,” Gutierrez said.

He stopped deportations, gave em jobs taken away from Americans, free healthcare, education, financed every other whim w/ tax dollars.
Obama is illegally giving out work permits, refusing to deport most captured illegals and he has illegitimately created a DREAM ACT by fiat. This is a man who has made absolutely clear that he has no intention of enforcing immigration law; so how do you make any kind of deal that relies on his implementing even tougher rules?

Naturally, the media withheld any mention of the ongoing investigation until after the primary election was over. It would have been useful information for voters to have known before they cast their ballots.
Luis Gutierrez is a Puerto Rican; sometimes, he seems much more interested in promoting Puerto Rico than his Congressional District in Chicago. He is not a Mexican, but he sees big percentages for the Democratic Party in flooding the USA with immigrants.

The Ethics Committee should subpoena Gutierrez’s (and the Hispanic Caucus’) emails, cell phone records, snail mail etc-—see who they’re contacting-—who they’re colluding and conspiring with.

I think everybody would say that’s a good first step, but you know for me at least I think you gotta add somethin’ to that,” Scofield told the governor in a Nov. 11, 2008, phone call “I mean everybody sees takin’ care of Barack’s person, there’s value in it. But you gotta make the value I think a little more tangible.”
Scofield, who has not been charged in the case, has said that Blagojevich wanted to pass a message to John Wyma, a friend of Obama chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, that the governor would consider Jarrett if a group of wealthy Obama supporters could put millions of dollars into a non-profit group that Blagojevich could run.

Last year, Gutierrez came out with an autobiography, “Still Dreaming: My Journey from the Barrio to Capitol Hill.” While the cover lists Gutierrez as author, the title page credits “Luis Gutierrez with Doug Scofield,” and both hold the copyright.
In his acknowledgments in the book, Gutierrez said Scofield “was my partner in writing this book” and thanked him for more than 20 years of friendship.
Scofield was a top campaign aide to then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich in 2002 and 2006. After the 2002 election, he served a stint as a top gubernatorial aide with the title of deputy governor. Blagojevich is now serving a prison term for corruption.

Their friendship may offer the U.S. House its best chance to find agreement on how to secure the border, overhaul procedures for legal immigration and deal with the 11 million people in the country illegally.
