Atheist Group Makes Legal Threats Against Republican Governor Scott Walker For Tweeting Bible Verse
RightWingNews ^ | March 20, 2014 | Tom Tillison

An atheist group has come unhinged over a tweet posted by Wisconsin Gov.Scott Walker and are demanding that he uphold the “godless” Constitution by deleting it. Walker tweeted “Philippians 4:13” from his official Twitter account Sunday — the Bible verse reads: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

The Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation took exception to the tweet, saying it’s religious in nature and a “misuse of gubernatorial and state of Wisconsin imprimatur,” according to The Christian Post.

“This braggadocio verse coming from a public official is rather disturbing,” the group wrote in a letter. “As governor, you took an oath of office to uphold the entirely godless and secular United States Constitution.”

The letter demanded Walker “immediately delete this religious message from your official gubernatorial Facebook and Twitter.” As of Thursday morning, the tweet has not been deleted.

But those who preach tolerance of opposing views were quick to display their own special brand of intolerance:

These atheists at "freedom from religion foundation" are no-nothings.

This is a country where we are tied to a Constitution that specifically chose to tolerate different religions and their ways of exercising their religion.

It's called FREE EXERCISE.

We specifically decided against ESTABLISHED RELIGION and religion police like the ffrf's are recommending. Enforcing neutrality is enforcing a state religion.

Free Exercise is being tolerant of folks various forms of being faithful to their religion.

...demanding that he uphold the “godless” Constitution...

What constitution is that, and why must he uphold it? Meanwhile, the US constitution is anything but “Godless”.

These guys really need to get out more. If you always hang out in a seedy bar, after a while you think the entire nation is idiotic smelly drunks like you.

But they aren’t.

The World Hates the Disciples
18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’[a] If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’

John 15:18-25

If they are Atheists, why do they care? I thought Atheist don’t believe in a God. So why do the verses upset them, they can ignore them like bad poetry.
