The White House says President Barack Obama will make a statement on Ukraine before he departs Thursday for a day of events in Florida.

The statement is scheduled for 11 a.m. Eastern time on the South Lawn.

The U.S. imposed sanctions earlier this week against several Russian officials for their role in the crisis in Ukraine.

Someone said that Obama is so weak he makes Jimmy Carter look like Winston Churchill by comparison. Carter was inept, bumbling, and misguided but at least he was a patriot who had served his country.

Public schools led by teachers unions have bred the capacity for critical thinking right out of most of the population.

That, and the fact that journalism as a profession has changed its focus from reporting to crusading. After all, reporters alone once brought down the most powerful man in the world.
