The Devious Secret of Obamacare
American Thinker ^ | March 20, 2014 | Bill Hobson

Posted on 03/20/2014 1:37:34 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Adventures in Obamacareland, in which our protagonist is:

encouraged to lie and report that he did not have existing health insurance, making the number of uninsured look higher; discovers new reasons to doubt the numbers of people reported as signing up for Obamacare; and learns that one of the supposed reasons behind the (Un)Affordable Care Act was a total sham.

First, a little background. Bill Hobson is not my real name. My spouse was concerned that, if I used my real name, the IRS would come after us. A few years ago I would have considered such thoughts paranoid. Now, under Obama's IRS, I suspect that she might be right.

I am a former small business owner and former journalist. I've had individual health insurance policies since 1989, and with the same (major) company for the last fifteen years. As with most folks, I saw my premiums go up incrementally over the years as age and health care costs rose, but nothing like what happened in the past year.

I did not want to sign up for Obamacare. But my individual policy -- my spouse is covered separately -- had risen from $330 a month when the administration imposed this diktat to $437 a month going into 2013, an increase which I really couldn't afford. However, my doctor had told me I would require a medical procedure last year costing a significant amount, so I left the plan in place, planning to switch to a lower-cost, higher-deductible policy. I reckoned that this would bring my monthly premium back to the $330 range. The delay would also, I thought, allow the smoke to clear from the Obamacare power grab.

Little did I know that, when the smoke lifted, it would reveal a charred landscape.

Come July/August....as the 2015 rates start to appear and escalate....I suspect things will go to a more dismal view of the mess. Why bother having insurance?

I think at some point....when my total cost and deductible is around $12,000....I’d just go without health insurance, and if suddenly I had something drastic....I’d just walk into an office and sign up with a policy....paying it as long as I had a drastic condition....then dump it.

You can figure the math....over the course of twenty years....I’d save over $150,000. Enough to buy a house in fifty percent of the US. What idiot would sign up for permanent healthcare when you can get a policy in twenty-four hours and they have to accept your newly found conditions.

Brilliant logic in creating this type of plan....if you wanted a five-star failure.

So when the going got a little scary and tough he just tucked tail, capitulated and signed right up for Obamacare?

Thanks for nothing ‘Bill’ and enjoy your ride to destruction.

The best thing every right thinking American can do at this point is rebel and NEVER sign up for stinking, filthy Obamacare. Let the idiots in Washington know we’re not going along and we’re NOT buying it. PERIOD!

If we stick together they will have to repeal it because then they could never possibly ever even come close to paying for any of it.

Without fleecing the young to pay for the old it doesn’t have a chance to survive and it shouldn’t.

Sure they can; they have more and bigger guns and the ability to print money endlessly along with the full coercive power of FedGov. Ocare is not about health care. It is about power and control. The only real cure is to remove the Marxists from power.

0bama (and his handlers) want a six-star failure ... but they'll settle for the five-star variety.

For now.

Talk about a Hobson’s choice. We get to choose either the Democrat Marxists, or the Republican Marxists.

You can’t just print money endlessly, you’d end up like Zimbabwe where you need brick of $100,000 Zim for busfare.

Even Obama and his Marxist democrats can’t change the laws of economics even though they think they can. The point is, they’re stupid and evil, a very bad combination and it won’t end well for them.... I promise you it won’t.

"You can’t just print money endlessly, you’d end up like Zimbabwe where you need brick of $100,000 Zim for busfare."

Indeed, the essence of the Cloward Piven strategy to collapse the system, and in their view, out of the ashes will rise a new world order of their making.

HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO WORK IN OBAMA'S UTOPIA
AKA
"IF YOU LIKE YOUR PLAN , YOU CAN KEEP YOUR PLAN. PERIOD."

Once upon a time in Obama's Utopia, tolerant compassionate Democrats kindly conferred cheap affordable universal healthcare on us American who are total scum.

Even though we are all rank cowards of the subect of race, for the first time, we undeserving misogynist, racist, homophobic Americans were going to have our health needs taken care of by our benevolent government.

Kindly Democrats (who despise the 1%) conferred cheap health benefits on all of us Americans, not just those intolerant greedsters with money (who create all the jobs that make the economy run smoothly).

Benevolent Democrats in Capitol Hill offices dreamed of millions of formerly uninsured Americans, and their illegal brethren, marching in lockstep to the polls to vote for kindly Democrats---the givers of all good governmental things.

Kindly benevolent Democrats would sail to electoral victory b/c they stood up to the evil insurance-medical-industrial complex on behalf of us cowardly, undeserving Americans.

Peace, happiness and universal well-being would reign over the land.

And we'd all live happily ever after.....even with astronomical deductibles, drug rationing, and I-PAB Death Panels looming in the distance.

People lying about eligibility, getting their income 'wrong', etc. to get subsidies are going to be in a LOT of trouble when the IRS does eventually catch up with them.

Are ObamaCare's Tax Credits Harmless? The Little Understood Dark Side Of The Subsidies

By accepting a tax credit, low-income or lower-middle class families face significant tax ramifications and potential financial risk. Congress has changed the rules twice on consumers for the credits, making the income cliffs steeper, and fully equipping the IRS to claw back overpaid subsidies (unlike the individual mandate penalty).

The flip side of the tax credits is almost unknown to the general public.

“Without fleecing the young to pay for the old it doesn’t have a chance to survive and it shouldn’t.”

Here’s the thing - with death panels, they are planning on killing the old....so, its truly a money grab and a plan to move to total govt controlled health “care” - I have insurance through work (for now)...but I think I would look into one of those health care “co-ops” if I lost that.

...the devious secret to this scheme, of course. The government allowed, probably even encouraged, insurers to raise rates on policies. Now, the only way most folks with individual policies can afford health insurance is to sign on to Obamacare. Guess what's on the horizon for all of you with group policies.

The monsters that came up with Obamacare understand incentive patterns - they're all perverse...

MEMO TO 2014 VOTERS Lock-stepping Democrats embedded all of this into law:

(1) throwing millions of Americans off affordable health plans,
(2) burdening Americans w/ ruinous deductibles,
(3) nationalizing 1/6 of the US economy,
(4) installing IPAB's (Death Panels),
(5) abandoning seniors and the chronically ill, and,
(6) decimating intergenerational transfers of wealth (grandma/pa's holdings go to the govt---not to you). Read on.

Ominous cogs in the Obamacare meat grinder----the inexorable forcing of Grandma/pa onto Medicaid--(like cattle herded single-file onto the narrow ramp---knowing the bolt is coming---but not able to do a thing about it).

Medicaid conveniently groups together the sick and elderly---as Obama's IPAB board of radical Boobamba worshippers sit in judgment. Boobamba's Orwellian-speak---the progressive way of saying "Obamacare keeps costs down."

The infamous "Death Panels---are alive and well----but they're not called death panels......for obvious reasons. The treacherous Obama euphemistically calls his death panel "I-PAB----Individual Payment Advisory Board." I-PAB decides what to pay and who to pay---thus rationing medical care to sick oldsters. Obamacare "allows" states to expand their Medicaid recipients pool. Under Obamacare, Washington now covers about 1/2 the cost of Medicaid enrollees.

==================================================

IPAB (Independent Payment Advisory Board)is a "progressive" type of US government agency.

1) IPAB is the first of the “fifth branch” of govt.
2) It will make all important health care decisions by authorizing payment or not.
3) It is not funded by Congress and cannot have its budget reviewed or changed.
4) Its membership cannot be changed by future Presidents,
5) It cannot be repealed by Congress, except for a six month window in 2017.
6) Its decisions are not subject to judicial review.
7) It is not authorized by the Constitution, and is therefore immune to Constitutional processes.

==================================================

Why is Obamacre herding seniors WITH ASSETS onto Medicaid---a program structured for the poor? Can you say redistribution of wealth? Herding the elderly with assets into Medicaid has ominous consequences that are intriguing to the left. B/c assets, perhaps a home owned free and clear, securities, annuities, investment property, can be seized to pay for govt treatment.

Thus intergenerational transfers of wealth (a longtime progressive bugaboo)----are decimated (grandma/pa's holdings go to the govt---not to you).

REMINDER: Lock-stepping Democrats embedded all of this into law.

People falsifying tax returns---lying about eligibility, understating income, etc ----- in order to to get subsidies are going to be in a LOT of trouble when the IRS catches up with them.

Falsifying Public Documents involves altering, changing, or modifying a document for the purpose of deception.......can also involve forgery and/or passing on copies of false documents. Falsifying documents is usually done in connection with broader criminal aims, such as extortion, government fraud, tax evasion, money laundering, financing terrorism........

Types of documents commonly falsified may include:
◾Tax returns and income statements
◾Personal checks
◾Bank account records
◾Business record keeping books
◾Immigration documents (such as visas, passports, etc.)
◾Identification cards and birth certificates

Many different types of acts can be considered as falsifying a document, including:
◾Altering or misrepresenting factual information such as prices or monetary amounts
◾Stating false information when requested to provide truthful statements
◾Forging a signature
◾Using official letterheads without authorization
◾Concealing assets or property WRT obtaining federal/state grants, and/or subsidies
◾Knowingly using or distributing a fake document

A person can only be held criminally liable if they are deliberately acting with the intention of deceiving or defrauding another party. /

Falsifying documents is a very serious offense and is generally classified as a felony. This means that a person charged with falsifying documents may be subject to the following legal penalties:
◾Having to pay a monetary fine
◾Incarceration in a prison facility

Depending on the gravity of the offense, as well as individual state laws, falsifying documents can result in a prison sentence of 5-10 years. Also, if government documents or authorities were involved, the legal penalties may be more severe. ..... legal penalties may increase with repeat offenses.

The penalty for falsifying government documents is outlined in the Crimes Act of 1958.

Think Mr. Hobson is in trouble?

He says (in the article):

our protagonist is: encouraged to lie and report that he did not have existing health insurance

I finished and, as the website clearly states, at the risk of perjury gave my e-signature verifying that I had provided true information.

I was able to delete the original application and, by ignoring some optional questions, eventually qualified for tax credits.

The point of his article seems to be the enrollment numbers, totally ignoring that under penalty of perjury, he and many others are not providing "true" information: "How many other folks were encouraged to fill out applications in ways that would make Obamacare figures look better? Those Obamacare enrollment numbers we're reading are as flimsy as the gowns you put on at the doctor's office.

OTOH-—public servants ACCEPTING falsified apps are also subject to LEGAL PENALTIES.

That’s called “PENCIL WHIPPING” .... a public employee accepting or passing on a falsified documents as truthful-—without doing the evidentiary documentation.

There is no doubt that ‘navigators’ or whatever they’re called, are encouraging people to falsify their applications in various ways and enabling them to do so.

Corruption is rampant ... it’s everywhere, in everything. At some point (and I’m pretty much thinking we’re “there” already), the ‘rot’ will be so extensive that salvage will be impossible.
