Russia’s forfeiting of Turkey’s permission to transit the Bosporus Straits practically negates the value of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, Russia’s only warm water naval port and commercial seaport, and devastates the Crimea’s merchant marine economy.

No way Turkey wants Russia in control the entire northern half of the Black Sea. Putin has troops in Kherson and seems to be thinking about taking everything from Crimea to Moldova.

We have a winner: now would be a good time to clean Assad's clock and get the Russian fleet out of the Med also.

Oh, but I assumed someone in the insane clown posse running DC has a strategic thought in their heads.

Looks like that could be a reason for Russia to go and kick some Turkish butt—maybe demand Hagia Sophia be turned into an Orthodox Church again. This is all hot air—I wonder how much Obama paid for this show of force from Turkey. Worry not all of this will blow over in a year—unless something really bad happens in Ukraine.

Yes, and the Bosphorus would be easy to block. Very tight, slow navigation in places there.
