Russia Suspended From G8, France Says (That will show em!)

The leaders of the Group of Eight have suspended Russia's participation in the body over Moscow's activities in Ukraine, the French foreign minister said Tuesday.

In an interview with Europe-1 radio, Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said that "it is envisaged that all the other countries, the seven leading countries, will unite without Russia," The Associated Press reported.

The other seven members had already pulled out of preparations for a G8 summit set to be held in June in the Russian city of Sochi.

Fabius and French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian earlier postponed a trip to Moscow to meet with their Russian counterparts Sergei Lavrov and Sergei Shoigu.

The meeting was scheduled to take place on Tuesday and no new date for the meeting has been proposed.

Fabius said that visiting Moscow at this time would create "the impression that we support" Russian actions in Crimea, "and this is not so."

However, Fabius said that "we are continuing dialogue with the Russians, despite the fact that we do not agree with them," Interfax reported.

An unidentified Russian diplomat told Reuters on Monday about the postponement after President Vladimir Putin recognized Crimea as a sovereign state.

Fabius warned Russia that it is isolating itself and faces "economic catastrophe" if it does not stand down.

The U.S. and European Union on Monday imposed sanctions on more than a dozen Crimean and Russian officials involved in setting up Sunday's referendum in Crimea, in which the peninsula voted to become part of Russia.

Putin on Tuesday notified Russia's parliament about Crimea's annexation request.

Playing right into Putin's hands.

"See, they will never accept you as equals. Europe will pillage your resources, but never accept you. We have to stand together apart from Europe in unified strength."

Lets be honest here... the G8 is a joke. The US is the only really important member (and the US is in decline), most of the rest are just a bunch of historical has-bin’s.

Russia could form an alliance with China alone and tower over the remaining G8 countries.

Russia and China could form a economic pact and decide simultaniously to switch away from the US dollar as the their reserve currencies...

Which would instantly destroy the US economy.

We are in debt up to our eye-balls and they hold all the cards.

the only thing saving us from that scenario is China’s investment in US treasuries - how much are they willing to lose? and on which side does the House of Saud swing?

Oh no....the G8 meeting will be in London rather than Sochi.

Note...The EU is well represented within the G8...oops...I mean the G7.

“Which would instantly destroy the US economy.”

On the contrary, it would destroy the Russian and Chinese economies, putting them back to the economies they had before 1978. Without the United States and Europe to cheat on their foreign exchange rates, their economies will shrivel up and die, while the return of U.S. manufacturing jobs will cause the U.S. economy to boom again. The booming employment then greatly boosts income taxes and defrays the national debt not already confiscated due to war with the parties holding the debt instruments.

Like Russia cares. None of the G-7 will stop Putin.

The West’s most powerful economies can’t stop Russia.

Why would any one want to be in the G-7, with the wimps who lead it?

Sun Tzu’s theory in action:

Start trouble between Russia and China. Why fight an enemy when you can stir up an even bigger enemy to fight for you?

Promote Islam in Russia. Create more turmoil within and set back with popcorn.....

Continue to demonize Putin as being like Hitler. Find all commonalities and publish them frequently.

Point out that Putin is super wealthy in a communist “work for the benefit of all” country. Keep publishing his $70 billion wealth.

Manufacturing is NEVER coming back to the US, not as long as there are 3rd world countries filled with billions of people willing to work for almost nothing.

Too late...a number of U.S. companies, including Apple, have already begun to do so.
