Ukrainian Government Refuses To Remove Troops From Crimea, Prepares For War
Kyiv Post ^ | March 17, 2014

In the wake of a March 16 referendum in which Crimeans voted to join the Russian Federation, Ukrainian leaders refused to cede any part of the peninsula, calling on their troops to prepare for war.

"Crimea was, is, and will be our territory," said Defense Minister Ihor Tenyukh in a statement delivered at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center on March 17.

Former heavyweight boxing champion and leader of the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform Vitali Klitschko announced that Ukrainian troops would remain at their bases, even after March 21, the end of a peace treaty signed by the interior ministries of Ukraine and Russia.

Unless the Ukraine can upgrade their military equipment dramatically in the next few days, this won’t end well for them.

The way for Ukraine to upgrade its military equipment, it seems to me, would be for the US to supply it with sophisticated weaponry, with which to repel the Russian invaders. (In fact, we have a lot of equipment we are just leaving in Afghanistan.)

State-of-the-art tanks and sophisticated warplanes could do a great deal to deter Moscow. Sadly, however, I do not expect these to be forthcoming from President Obama, despite his overheated rhetoric (and that of his Secretary of State).

Not necessarily a wise move when your military is outnumbered more than 10:1 . . .

The KGB thug will send in the women and children now. “Civilian” mobs will attack the Ukrainian bases.

If so, he's been studying Obama and his "Occupy" mobs well.

We are about 50 steps in escalation from arming the Ukrainians. Putin invaded Ukraine outside of the Crimea yesterday and the response today from obama was a travel ban on 10 Russians. The kenyan won’t send arms to the Ukrainians. Ever. It’s not in his DNA.

Good thing the French didn’t think the same thing about the Colonists during the American Revolution.

King Barry knows all about war.

But the “war” he knows about is the kids card game that he plays when Reggie comes to visit.

You are kooky. I am tired of our kids dying for cause that Obama decides aren’t worth it. You need to take a look and realize the country you seem to think you live in no longer exists as a government of the people.

You want to fight them. Go fight them. you will be forgotten as all our troops have been shafted by this administration.

Crimea is not our battle. However, it is a battle if the EU wants to sacrifice their kids for a cause. Perhaps you should open up your eyes and take a look at a battle that is your business. It is here!

Oh that is right, you are the one who thinks we can just vote it all away. Geesh

I don’t like the term ‘kids’ though acknowledging the common usage. These are young men and at this time even young women. As one of the young men in WWII I have not since then believed in making other peoples messes our mess too. This is not the intent of international money and power changers.

A few stingers and anti-tank missiles could serve as a warning to Russia but Obama already refused those.

I wonder if this will encourage Putin to allow Snowden to release the other 1,500,000 files he’s got? I wonder what’s in them? Prolly nothing more than chump change, no way it could be a game changer.

Why won't we stand up to Russia?

How is this our problem? It's NOT! We have no legitimate interest in Ukraine and someone should tell President mommy pants and his jackass SecState to sit down and shut up.

Ukraine has NO hope of holding on to an area where 90%+ of the population wants to leave.

We helped disarm Ukraine in return for guaranteeing their sovereign boundaries. the Ukrainians aren’t asking for our military to bail them out. They have the guts to defend themselves. They don’t want us on their soil. They need small arms to equip their reserves. All we have to do is divert the weapons from Libya we’ve been supplying to the Syrian invaders to Ukraine.

We need to help put a rifle behind every blade of grass in Ukraine.
