Bible controversy hits Air Force base

For more than a decade new military recruits at Maxwell Air Force Base – Gunter Annex in Alabama have received a Bible from Gideons International volunteers. But that tradition has come to an end after volunteers said they were told by the military that they would no longer be allowed to personally distribute the pocket-sized Bibles to recruits.

“They kicked us out,” Gideon’s volunteer Michael Fredenburg told me in a telephone interview from his home in Montgomery, Ala. “They told us, ‘get your Bibles out.’”

Gaylan Johnson, is a public affairs officer for the Military Entrance Processing Command. He told me the Gideons’ side of the story is “not strictly true.”

For years the Gideons had distributed Bibles to new recruits four days a week. “They can place their literature within our facility, but they are not allowed to stand there and talk with applicants or hand them (the Bibles) out,” he told me.

Every time someone pulls this crap, we must remind them of this: “....nor interfere with the free exercise thereof.”

At this point, we all know what kind of people we are dealing with, and why they feel free acting this way. As Sarah said, during the CPAC, the Era of Obama is almost over,(PRAISE THE LORD!). My guess is, the next President will roll some of these restrictions back. Even a President Hillary (Ugh) may not see any point in further antagonizing the Christian right or their enlisted sons and daughters. Obama appears to simply enjoy giving Amercians a middle finger double bird when what we want differs with his goals. Hillary has already lived in the White House, and may not be quite as insecure, about that anyway. Hopefully Hill will lose to Cruz or Walker anyway. All things must pass.

There is no place for God in mans government. That’s the friction that we endure.

Obama and his Marxists at work again. Its like the IRS scandal. He doesn’t have to tell them directly. They know instinctively what he wants done and as good little atheistic Marxists they are ready to act.

...not the US Air Force I once knew.... (May 31, 1956-August 17, 1960)

Then, the persons of questionable sexual orientation either kept their personal fixations to themselves, or they got booted out rather quickly. So far a religious orientation went, Christian, Jewish or agnostic were acceptable, but no proselytizing in the barracks. Practice of faith was a private thing. Otherwise done at the chapel or in off-base functions.

I received this in an email from an old friend today:

Cadets at the United States Air Force Academy should expect to be trained in dealing with fear — fear of surface-to-air missiles, anti-aircraft fire, or falling into enemy hands. Unfortunately at today’s Air Force Academy, cadets must also deal with fear of expressing their faith.

Recently, a cadet wrote a Bible verse on the dry-erase board on the door to his dorm room. Apparently, the Apostle Paul’s words to the Galatians that “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me...” (Gal. 2:20) were a little too much for someone to tolerate, and the verse was removed after an anti-Christian activist group complained to the Superintendent of the Academy.

This incident reflects a culture of suppression that is being instilled among some of America’s best young warriors. When religious expression is whitewashed because of the complaints of a hyper-sensitive few, the Academy develops a culture of fear when it should be developing warriors.

If cadets are taught to be afraid of Bible verses, how will they respond against terrorists who are willing to die for their cause? Our U.S. Air Force Academy cadets should be taught how to intercept the enemy, not how to tiptoe around the hyper-sensitive complainants.

Join me in standing against this culture of fear at the U.S. Air Force Academy and stand for the cadets by signing the petition to Superintendent Lt. Gen. Michelle Johnson to protect the religious expression of Air Force Academy cadets.

Urge the Air Force Academy to protect the religious freedom of its cadets! Click here to sign the petition.

I’m shocked that a “lifelong Christian” like Obama is violating the Constitution and ordering active hostility toward Christianity on a military base. I still have no idea why more than half of Americans cannot correctly identify Obama’s religion as “Christian”.

“They can place their literature within our facility, but they are not allowed to stand there and talk with applicants or hand them (the Bibles) out,” he told me.

Regarding religion-related military policies, please consider the following. Patriots need to work with state lawmakers to ratify a new amendment to the Constitution along the following lines. Government leaders in the legislative, executive and judicial branches of both state and federal governments, and lets now include police and military personnel, should be required to do the following. They should be required to reference specific constitutional clauses in official written records which define and record official actions and policies in order to constitutionally justify such actions and policies.

Such records should include noting that the Constitution's silence about a given issue means that the issue is automatically a 10th Amendment-protected state power issue.

Such an amendment should also required all candidates for state or federal government office, elected or nonelected, including candidates for police and military personnel, to pass a basic constitutional law test which stresses an understanding of the federal government's constitutionally limited powers.

Although unsurprisingly less than successful, conservative federal lawmakers have been trying to force corrupt Congress to police itself by making it mantatory to constitutionally justify provisions in bills as evidenced by the following proposed legislation.

Let us also keep in mind that the modern military now allows headstones for dead enlisted that displays a Christian Cross, a Star of David, a Crescent and Star of Islam and (wait for it) a Pentagram as in keeping with Wicca or Satanism (!!). That policy cannot be blamed on Obama alone, this has been policy since the Clinton years, I believe.

Stinking Pentagon socialist homo loving pigs. Those people making these decision have an appointment at the Judgment Seat of Christ. They ain’t gonna like the results. The Lake of Fire awaits those who spit on our Lord. Repentance is the only chance. Might want to try it before it is too late. There is no promise of tomorrow. After dead there is no second chance. And, no, the Bible makes it clear, no one can pray you in, get baptized for you. Before death and that is the only chance you have.

Thank you for this post.

I remember the Gideons passing out Bibles at the reception station. They asked if we wanted one, they did NOT Force, them on us. I still have mine, it is packed away in my old Army footlocker with other things I saved from my 20 years service.
