I also consider that this flight was shot down. In order for China to shoot it down, they'd have to have info. that the flight was hijacked because it was heading for China anyway.

Malaysia has F/A-18's and might have shot it down. The authorities steered searchers in wrong areas which raises suspicion they don't want evidence found which shows they shot it down.

China, Malaysia or even India could've shot it down.

Put him in front of the cameras and throw some water bottles at him to see what else he knows.

Because of the certainty and clarity expressing the object was moving in line with his observation point, making no attempt to assert whether it was coming toward him or moving away from his location, I’d say that increases is credibility.

Yes, Mr McKay's email is refreshingly detailed and free of BS and incompetence. Of course, that doesn't mean it actually was MH370 that he saw. Unless the airplane stayed aloft and turned towards him after losing its transponder, the distance would seem to be a little far (365 miles from the point of last contact to Mr McKay's location). From how far on the surface should you be able to see a plane fire at altitude?

The mods deleted my posting of his email, but you can read it on Twitter here (click the image for a legible view).

“That’s an awful lot of naval force so the question that needs to be asked, was this truly humanitarian relief or a “show of force” to the Chinese who have been rattling their swords in that region? “

(In November 2011?) If it was a show of force, can you imagine our metrosexual president authorized it as such? He’d say, “That’s something Bush would do. I’m far more nuanced. I’ll just call them and we’ll talk it out. Then we’ll all smoke a few j’s and it’ll be cool. You’ll see.”

Looking at that photo, it’s unlikely a plane on fire. At that point, it wouldn’t even be in flight.........

You can’t be serious. If China air traffic controllers had ANY indication the flight has been hijacked for the purpose of crashing into their iconic landmarks, skyscrapers or population centers you can bet the farm they’d shoot it down without hesitation.

Witnesses are very unreliable. I remember when flt 800 went down there were dozens of witnesses who saw a missile. After this there were reports in major newspapers about how unreliable eyewitness accounts are.

Interesting. I wonder what would start a fire onboard a plane that would also disable the transponder and passengers’ cell phones. Or what kind of structural or electronics failure onboard would disable it?

I wonder who or what on that plane might have set a fire or caused an explosion.

I wonder whether a particular passenger on that plane was the target of a terrorist attack.

The two Iranians look more and more suspicious, but there may have been others too. Perhaps this is part of the reason the Malays are taking so much time saying anything definitive until they check all of the passengers’ passports with their home governments. Is China cooperating? An earlier report said that China had stopped looking for the plane days ago— perhaps because they knew where it was.

My intuitive take when the plane first went down was that something went wrong inside the plane that brought it down, perhaps something wrong with the structure or with the pilot. Third possibility, passenger(s) was a terrorist. Definitely, it’s under water now.

Not to offend FR scientists, but sometimes a woman’s intuition is correct.

I’ll bet Boeing execs are nervously pacing.

The only way that could be an aircraft is if it belly landed on the ground because that puff of smoke overhead would not be possible if the aircraft was flying.

His name doesn’t sound Vietnamese.

That may explain why he provided his New Zealand passport number at the end of the letter.

One thing seems clear is the complete UNreliability of the “last reported location”.

How does this report correspond to the one with the alleged photo of the burning plane, from the passenger window of another airliner?

Thats a vietnamese rig. His name doesn’t sound Vietnamese.

Probably a contractor. I used to fly across the Pacific, planes always had interesting people to talk to who worked for foreign companies.

Not really. Not unexpected to get differing accounts like this. Oil rig worker may have seen a meteor. Military could have tracked something else. You can’t absolutely trust any account like this because mistakes happen. I trust the oil rig worker account more than the military account. Maybe the military shot it down and is covering up. Who the heck knows.

That is where the Vietnamese pilot reported seeing a large debris field and it is also a direct flight path toward Hawaii.

The mental case in North Korea was playing with his missiles last week and another jet reported a near miss.
