During the primaries in the last presidential election he called Hannity’s radio program to tell him something. Hannity thought it was about legislation. When Hannity let him on the air he said he called to announce that he wrote an op-ed against Gingrich. Hannity was ticked. He told him that he thought he was calling about legislation. A few minutes later Paul Rand went on Fox and said his dad would be the one who could get the independents. I have not cared for his methods of operandi since then. This really takes the cake.

Here are Paul’s exact words without anyone’s slant or interpretation to them.

His actual words sound much more reasonable than the original article portrays.

He's got the Reagan part right.

Ted Cruz was getting a little ahead of the reality of Reagan.

Don't get me wrong, I like both of them...but for different reasons.

Ronald Reagan’s Eleventh Commandment was, ‘’Never speak ill of a fellow Republican.’’ So here is Rand Paul, not merely speaking ill of a fellow Republican, but attacking a fellow CONSERVATIVE Republican.

If Rand Paul keeps this up, he’ll alienate so many decent people he won’t be able to help put Mitch McConnell over the top in his Senate race.

“Rand Paul has endorsed McConnell,”

"Sarah Palin has endorsed John McCain".

“The Republican Party is an empty vessel unless we imbue it with values,”Rand Paul told a roaring crowd of 1,000 Friday at a Nashua airport hangar. “Just any Republican won’t do. That’s what this primary is about.”

Paul was talking in general terms. Not naming names, which is what he objected to.

Cruz may not be helping himself if he wants to run. What plays well with committed partisans on the Internet doesn't always work well with off-line voters.

His vice presidential candidate endorsing McCain in 2010 in an election that he couldn’t lose, and following their sharing the GOP’s Presidential ticket, versus Paul trying to prop up McConnell and help him hold his seat this year (2014) against a real challenge.

If you want to go to bat for the McConnell/Paul team for the upcoming election, go ahead, I don’t see the justification for it, or even a reasonable explanation.

I don’t understand it at all.

A politician can say a lot -- Reagan said a lot himself himself -- and get away with it, so long as he or she doesn't name names. And Paul doesn't name any names here.

Decent people aren't going to get worked up about criticism as indirect as Paul's op-ed, whatever Politico tries to make out of it.

Shamnesty and CommiCare Paul is a bridge to nowhere. It’s Mittens all over again.

My concern is that the foreign policy of Rand and Ron Paul would get us to the same point Obama’s dithering and anti Americanism has. Different routes to the same irrelevance.

I think the “split” is that Paul indirectly criticized Cruz’ comments about Reagan and, perhaps more importantly, he slammed Cruz for trashing Dole, McCain and Romney.

Paul is sucking up to the GOPe, and he thinks he can away with it. He might. He is making serious and (I think) courageous outreach to non-traditional supporters

I prefer Cruz over Paul for many reasons. It will be interesting to see how their new rivalry plays out

I got the impression early on that Rand wants it too much. This only confirms my opinion.

It could be a “Dream From My Father,” thing.

Reagan was extremely aggressive in foreign policy and a massive military buildup and increasing troops and weapons, and war footing in Europe, and he was always pushing the limits, he was all over the planet fighting the commies.

Paul doesn’t understand Reagan.

Paul wrote. “I will remind anyone who thinks we will win elections by trashing previous Republican nominees or holding oneself out as some paragon in the mold of Reagan, that splintering the party is not the route to victory.”

This like saying “I’m not calling you a liar, you lyin’ s.o.b.”

I believe I voted for an atheist in 2008. I voted for a Mormon in 2012. Lost both times.
