that’s a real shaker.
Eureka’s a beautiful area....
They really should divide Calif. into two states - So different up north

I’m surprised there’s only one.

Consider Solar pressure against the Earth and its affect on the Earth, resulting in Earthquakes.

The entire ring of fire looks a bit active with 5+s. Maybe it always is, don’t look at it every day.

Another one recently, a little further out to sea apparently:
M 5.2 - 209km WSW of Gold Beach, Oregon
Time: 2014-03-13 15:11:35 UTC-04:00
Location: 41.890°N 126.857°W
Depth: 10.0km
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/usc000nah5
I would not expect much if any damage, but somebody out there probably noticed it.
Preceeded just a few hours earlier by a M 6.3 - 13km N of Kunisaki-shi, Japan.

I’ve noticed that sometimes when you get one over on that side of the Pacific there is apt to be an “echo” quake over on this side shortly thereafter. Maybe the Oregon one was just such an echo.
