Sen. Cruz won't endorse Cornyn in Texas GOP race

WASHINGTON (AP) — The sniping between establishment Republicans and tea partyers resumed Thursday as Texas Sen. Ted Cruz refused to endorse his state's senior senator in next week's Republican primary.

Sen. John Cornyn, the Senate's second-ranking Republican leader, faces tea party-backed Rep. Steve Stockman in Tuesday's election. Cruz declined to tell reporters how he plans to vote

"I am not supporting any of the senators from my party or their opponents" in this year's primaries, Cruz said, adding that he might change his mind later.

Cruz, a tea party favorite and potential 2016 presidential candidate, has infuriated fellow Republicans by forcing uncomfortable votes on issues such as the debt, and by raising money for conservative groups trying to defeat veteran Republicans, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

Cruz's comments are especially notable because he is a vice chairman of the GOP committee tasked with winning Senate elections. He criticized the committee's track record and policy of virtually always backing incumbents.

Do you know why at least some of these articles only mention Stockman and not Stovall?

Because the media hates you, and lies.

“That’s funny in light of the fact that the GOPe says it needs to make inroads into the Latino community. They will prove that by dumping someone named Cruz. That’ll sell. “

The Mexicans who constitute the largest faction of the latinos do not consider Cruz who is Cuban to be one of them.

Furthermore, Cruz is Ivy educated which further separates him from them.

“Cruz is the only chance the rhino’s have to keep their party together.”

Randy Moss was always a premier all star receiver in the NFL. And he has been kicked off a lot of teams because he and Terrell Owens have always been malcontents.

Ditto for Cruz.

I voted early and voted Stovall. If Stockman makes it to the runoff I'll vote for him. Cornyn is toast with it going to a runoff which polls show it will. Cornyn sealed his fate when
he went after the most popular well liked man in Texas.

““Party” means squat to me.”

If true, then you mean squat to the party.

Just some thoughts about your inquiry.

Texas requires a huge amount of money to run a media campaign statewide. IMO,
most of the candidates don't have that money and thus have to rely on personal
appearances, word of mouth, etc. Of all the candidates opposing Cornyn,
Stockman is the most recognizable because of his election to Congress twice.
However I doubt he has much recognition outside of Southeast TX.

Polls have been almost non existent for this race. I'm sure some may have
been conducted by candidates but not released to the public. Here is
one that was done Feb. 7 - 14 and is the latest I'm aware of.

“The ‘team’ doesn’t elect Cruz. Me an hundreds of thousands like me do. He’s not going anywhere.”

TRUE, HE IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. He will remain the isolated senator from Texas much like Bernie Sanders is the isolated democrat/socialist from Vermont.

“Cruz is not a team player, Cornyn is a team player.

The team will back Cornyn and eventually, the team will dispose of Cruz.”

Well Cruz is on my team a lot more than Cornyn.

Sanders doesn't do nearly as much to disrupt the GOP-E or get nearly as much press.

Cruz is doing what he was elected to do.

The “Party” has made that abundantly clear for a number of years, now.

They left me, I didn’t leave them.

In fact, from the whining of the GOP-E here on FR, I'd say he's doing a great job.

Nice straw man...Now back to reality. Cruz does what Cruz says he's going to do and had done what he said he would do while campaigning for office. Now let's compare that to the average run of the mill backstabbing Establishment RINO currently in office shall we. Let's start with Bitchy McConnell. Sold us out last fall on the CR. Whined bitched and moaned said the fight should be in the Spring on the Debt Ceiling then HE and his little Bitch Cornyn cast the vote that brought the issue to the floor so it could pass with 51 votes WITHOUT any restrictions. NOW THERE IS TRUE LEADERSHIP. Babbling CryBaby Boehner-Constantly attempting to push Amnesty. Won't call for Select Committee on IRS, Behngazi. Cantor-Weasel that wants to be Johnny Bohner Junior. John McCain-Past Loser because he doesn't have a clue. Always liked to be the deal maker that sells out Conservatives.

Your "team" is the political equivalent of the Washington Generals.

Tread lightly there buttercup. The Rino Establishment is about to committ political suicide. Ted Cruz is the voice to MILLIONS of Americans sick and tired of the back room, backstabbing deals that screw over citizens so the likes of John Bohner, Mitch McConnell, John McCain and John Cornyn can play king for a day. Take out Cruz you will alienate permently the base to what was once the Grand Old Party. Good luck. Perhaps the Path of John Milktoast McCain and Willard Romney. I know, I know...Where's a Bob Dole when you need one. HA!

Stovall got my early vote. But either he or Stockman would be better than our current senior Senator.

"Or Cruz wants to be the Senior Senator from Texas. It is not like he endorsed another nominee. He sees the positives for him getting rid of Cornyn."

LOL.... Nice spin. Cruz is only in this for himself huh? HA HA HA HA HA..... Unlike the RINO cornyn who has repeatedly been one of harry reid's lap dog right? LOL... When will moderates learn that the world does not revolve around them? Those of us that care about others are tired of liberals/moderates/socialists/progressives/communists/rinos/haters of freedom/... or whatever they like to be called, stealing our liberty and selling us down the river. Ted Cruz is one of us. We are the majority. Like those unemployed that have given up on finding a job we are the ones that have stopped being engaged in the political process. It's gutless, self absorbed douche-bags like cornyn, mccain, and kind lying to us all the time that have driven us away. Well... Because a few people like Cruz and Palin have given us a little hope we are now re-engaged in the political process and we are going to do everything we can to legally rid our government of weaselly, power hungry, barack o bamah boot lickers and those in the republican establishment can piss off. The liberals/RINOs/media... all keep trying to define the "Tea Party" but they can't. Because we are not a bunch of uneducated, feces encrusted loud mouthed "occupiers" the left (aka - demoncraps & RINOs) hope we no longer exist or care.

Trying to understand those of us in the "Tea Party", how we feel, what we think, what motivates us, etc. is like trying to explain an orgasm to someone that's never had one. It can't be done and until RINOs grow a spine and develop a conscience... THEY WON'T.

Wow...

Ted doesn’t back down.

Wish we had at least ONE like him in PA...

He’s got Honor. And one man with Honor is worth more than a hundred scoundrels.

Praying for that runoff. You’re right if it comes to that Cornyn is toast.
