Results from a U.S. Army survey show that female soldiers are not enthusiastic about entering combat positions. Maintaining physical standards for soldiers regardless of sex is nearly universally supported.
Less than 8 percent of Army women who responded to the survey said they wanted a combat job, reported The Associated Press, which obtained the results of a preliminary survey of 170,000 soldiers.
The assessment was emailed last year to active duty, reserves and Army National Guard members to gauge attitudes towards women in combat.
Only 2,238 of 30,000 women, or 7.5 percent, who responded to the questionnaire said that they would want to work in one of several combat positions which included infantry, armor, artillery and combat engineer positions, the AP reported.
Of the women who were open to combat jobs, an overwhelming number said theyd like to be a Night Stalker a member of the elite special operations helicopter crews who perhaps are best known for flying the Navy SEALS into Osama bin Ladens compound in 2011.

I bet you they love those officer jobs!
Liberal reaction: This proves women just don't understand what is good for them and we should spend more to make it easier for them.
Notice they didn't say "equal physical standards".
Of course, I suspect that the majority of women that are pushing women in combat have never visited a recruiting office or experienced the thrill of boot camp.
Like a ‘scholar’ said many many moons ago that wars should be fought by the people that STARTED them....The OLD men, not waste YOUNG lives.
Of course we not only have Presidents (the last 3) that DON’T have sons to send off to war, they don’t REALLY go through the proper channels anymore.
On the other hand GHW had/has too many sons, just hope ‘they’ don’t foist another one on us.
The women dont want to lower the standards because they want the men to know theyre just as able as they are to do the same task, David Brinkley, the deputy, added.
Maintaining physical standards while opening positions to women has proved difficult for all branches of the military.
It's good to see that the military women do not want to lower the physical standards. It's imperative that the standards remain as is and IF a woman wants to go the combat route that she earns it the old fashioned way.
If I were a recruiter and needed to sign up women who had a snowballs chance of hell to pass the physical standards I'd look at competitive swimmers. They have the upper body strength and the cardio to pass.
Wouldn’t it just have been easier to leave the women in the WACs, WAVEs, and WAFs and skip all the ensuing upset and lowering of standards?
FWIW, some Japanese warlords favored women ninja because of their superior acrobatic skills.
They are women, not men!
