Erroneous or not my imagery of a British man was formed at a young age watching Alec Guiness’s character in the Bridge on the River Kwai.
There are many British celebrities who are beloved, popular stars here. Americans have nothing against British accents. We do, however, resent Brits telling us how to live our lives, and we have strongly felt that way since the 1700s.
I’m not sure if it’s who they really are or who it is they think they are that really bugs me.
