And that is the crux of the matter. The EU has created turmoil to try to gain control of gas lines. They also tried to create the same turmoil in Russia to gain control over source of supplies. They did that by backing the thugs that grabbed Russian oilfields after the collapse. When Putin defeated them, they started in with electioneering pushing societal change like with the gays, etc.

All so the EU can avoid paying market rate without drilling for gas at home.

Europe is creating misery. Always has, always will. Behind their quaint little home cities, they are the greatest evil on the planet.

Ah, the ol’ “We’ve got to protect the ethnic Russians” routine.

My impression is that the ethnic Russians are pretty much the commie wannabe jerks who are the biggest threat to many of the eastern European republics.

I’m fine with and segments of those nations that vote to rejoin Russia to be allowed to do so. I wish we could let some US regions do the same so that we could be freer without them.

And Europe is being Napoleanic again, should we stop them?

Exactly. Russia would never tolerate a united Ukraine in NATO but it can live with a shrunken Ukraine in the Western alliance. After all, a country of 20 million people is a much more manageable risk than a country of 50 million. Russia accepts the eastern Europe is now part of the West but Ukraine is a part of what Russians call their “near abroad.” And ties of culture, faith and history make Ukraine part of Russia’s sphere of influence, whether or not the West acknowledges it.

Russia has no interest in annexing Western Ukraine. But at the very least it wants autonomy or independence for the country’s Russian-speaking east and south - with a special guardian reserved there for Moscow.

it's an opportunity to even up the score a little, while helping a future NATO ally out of a tight spot.

Zero chance of us doing that today, none at all.

And you know this as fact?

While it is true that Ukraine originally welcomed the German Army as liberators from Stalin, when the SS Einsatzgruppen followed the Wermacht into Ukraine and started mass exterminations of people they called “untermenschen” (”subhumans”), the Ukies fought back viciously.

I doubt there’s much love for Nazism there.

They want to be left the hell alone for once, to guide and direct their OWN lives and fortunes.

Like ANY people that love freedom.

That’s almost the wrong question. It isn’t want does Russia want. I think the question is what does the EU want to try to grab? The answer is the Europe will only be happy if they can expand into all of Ukraine, culturally Russian parts at all. They want Ukraine in NATO, 200 miles from Moscow and Volgograd (Stalingrad). And would happily want to take over the Navy base at Sevastopol.

The EU and NATO has turned into a pure menace to world peace. Libya, Syria, and now they are spoiling for expansion in the east. And when Putin opposes them even rhetorically, he becomes the vicious aggressor.

The model is always agree with Europe, or be the aggressor. Or in the case of America, be selfish and uncaring. But either way, all must bow to Europe. Its sickening to watch the Eurothugs do their work.

“...being descendants of Ukrainians who fought with the Nazis. It is not all made up.”

Please elaborate. I consider myself to be somewhat versed in WWII history and as I recall many Ukrainians initially did offer service but were denied. Later in ‘43 when the war turned bad the Nazis forced conscription. By that time however many Ukrainians had grown to resent the Germans and had joined the partisans or were serving in the Red army. Also the UKIP leaders (who declared independence shortly after the Nazi invasion) were collectively deported to German concentration camps.

The numbers:
-Ukrainians serving in Soviet Army and Partisans ~ 4.7 million.
-Ukrainians serving in Axis armies ~ 90,000.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainian_collaborationism_with_the_Axis_powers

I do not think the ‘Nazi descendant’ analogy is warranted particularly considering the casualty rates on the Eastern front. Most the 90,000 either died or surrendered to Western forces so there would be few descendants in Ukraine today.

Good thing we have a Vietnam War hero as Secretary of State. He’ll show those Russians what difference it makes.

Fortunately, all those mysterious ‘Nazis’ have long returned to their outerspace bases. Or somewhere.

"my apology for saying former kgb ... putin was and is never former kgb."

If Putin was never in the KGB, why do all his biographies say he was a Lieutenant Colonel in the KGB and served 16 years in the KGB?

One of the group’s leaders, Aleksandr Muzychko, has pledged to fight against “Jews and Russians until I die.” Asserting the Right Sector’s authority over the situation, Muzychko declared that now that they have taken over “there will be order and discipline”. (a -classic- German saying) or “Right Sector squads will shoot the bastards on the spot.”

No,, nothing at all Nazi there. It isn’t just membership and an ID card that makes a Nazi. Its chasing down Jews, its street riots that threaten even other opposition groups, its demanding ethnic cleansing such as deRussifying.
Yes, the western Ukrainians are leaning heavily fascist/ Nazi.

So you’re using one Nazi sympathizer and his organization to refute the 4.7 million who served with the Soviets and partisans?

You’re being biased here.

This was very predictable. Putin has nothing to fear from the ball less red liner in the Sand.

Putin will make moves leading to retaining the Russian Naval Base like we did with Gitmo in Cuba.

Then, he will accommodate the majority of people in the Ukraine who are Russian. Then we will probably see two Ukraines. One that is pro Russia and allied with Russia. The other will be various minorities and a lot of Muslims.

I predicted this possible outcome yesterday.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3126684/posts?page=44#44

Hagle and Herr Obozo will downsize our army, weaken our Navy and may be do away with our Air Force.

Then, Herr Obozo and Kerry will defend the gays and Muslims in that area. After that, Herr Obozo and his pal Kerry will draw more red lines like they did in Syria and other places.

Putin will ignore the so called Red Lines. He will treat their naval base and port like we do Gitmo.

We will then probably see the Ukraine area divided into two camps, Muslim and other minorities in one area, and then the majority into a Russian state in the other area.

“Good thing we have a Vietnam War hero as Secretary of State. He’ll show those Russians what difference it makes.”

Right on and throw in a anti America Secretary of Defense and a Potus, who hates a strong America.

Then, Putin will run back to Moscow quivering and in tears.

I need a massive sarcasm symbol after posting this.

I fear we are going to get sucked in. Don't know how, but we will.

Of course, the former Nebraskan Hagel just was ordered to gut the military so we may have to fight them here.

How many/much of their weaken America plots are carried out by their anti Christ, George $0rea$$, the puppet master of Obama?
