Ex-President Carter planning trip to Venezuela

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter is expressing concern about Venezuela's escalating political crisis and wants to meet with leaders on both sides in an upcoming trip.

Carter, a mediator of past political conflict in the deeply polarized South American nation, made the offer in private letters he sent this week to President Nicolas Maduro and opposition leader Henrique Capriles.

Expressing "grave concern" about the loss of life in recent protests and the risk of more conflict ahead, Carter in the letter to Capriles said that for dialogue aimed at easing tensions to succeed both side must "send signals of their willingness to alleviate the present state of tension."

For the opposition, that means making clear its commitment to act within constitutional limits and strongly reject violence, the Nobel peace laureate wrote. In turn the government must guarantee the right to peaceful protest and impartial justice for jailed protesters.

"It is difficult for elected officials from opposition parties to resolve differences when they feel threatened and persecuted," Carter wrote.

Does anyone listen to Carter? Not even the state run MSM has covered him for years.

Can only hope that they realize what a good (a bit addled but good) communist he is and keep him.

Even though Carter was 100 times worse than Obama, I still can’t stand when they say ex-President….it is former President for God’s sake. The media does suck big time.

The silly SOB couldn’t get a parking ticket fixed in the US. How does he expect his appearance in Venezuela to accomplish anything. Talk about elusions of importance. The people want food and toilet paper, not some idiotic thoughts of America’s penultimate worst president.

Carter was a poor President. He is a pathetic embarrassment as a former President. I will give him some credit in that he does seem to practice and promote charity, but he needs to stay off the world stage and stop meddling in foreign affairs.

I have never understood why he breaks this unspoken rule.

Show a little respect. The dimwit should be referred to as “Former” President Carter.

Carter lusts in his heart to be a Communist dictator. That’s why he loves to get close to them.

Jimmah needs to bring his own toilet paper. His favorite Marxist nation can’t even manage an economy or government where people can find a wipe.

” - - - “It is difficult for elected officials from opposition parties to resolve differences when they feel threatened and persecuted,” Carter wrote. - - - “

True enough Jimmah, true enough!

Even US Democrat Bureaucrats at the IRS, NSA and DOJ have had a difficult time resolving the differences between themselves and the ordinary American Citizens that they daily threaten and persecute.

So much corruption, so little time - - - - .

BTW, Jimmah made a good travel choice as Global Warming has not yet hit Washingto, District of Corruption.

However, Secretary of Statements “Catchup” Kerry has assured the Left Steam Media that he personally is doing his best to encourage Algore’s best junk scientists to bring Global Warming to a grateful “bunch of Democrats” in DC.
