I love reading posts by people who are actually aware of current side-effects of vaccines. Terrifying stuff!!! I know two people who have ended up with Guillain-Barre paralysis post vaccines. Just say no!!!

Guillain-Barre became known during the early 1980's due to a Swine Flu vaccine IIRC. I'm not anti vaccine. I have to take the Flu shot each year as does my wife. I have to take it due to severe sinus allergies and some neurological damage in my sensory processing system to the point of disability. I'm over 50% hearing loss as well. I also take three allergy shots every three weeks and six shots every six weeks. If not I have Asthma type symptoms. Shots mean less damage.

My wife besides being a quad has Asthma, mild Emphysema, Limited lung capacity with part of her upper torso pressing on a lung. She had her Thyroid removed recently due to cancer. The Flu could kill her and she's had bouts with Pneumonia before. Yes she takes the Flu shot and took the Pneumonia shot as well. The flu shot we take is not linked to GB. Vaccines did not put my wife in a wheelchair. She had not taken the Swine flu vaccine.

“Guillain-Barre became known during the early 1980’s due to a Swine Flu vaccine IIRC.”

That happened when Ford was President so it was a bit earlier.

The vaccine was rushed to market by the CDC IIRC.

“Sugar cube medicine. Even remember parents taking their sugar cube(s) too”

That was the Sabin vaccine. Salk came earlier.

The man forgotten man in conquering polio is Thomas Francis.

I was just going on known cases in my area. It was odd. About the time TM hit my wife GB hit two other persons and this was new to the Neurologist because it hadn’t shown up yet. GB like TM can be triggered by many sources but GB seems to be more linked to flu virus and flu vaccine. IOW a Flu exposure it seems could just as likely trigger it.

Wasn’t polio the main cause/reason for them building those huge iron lung machines back in the early 60’s?

I was born in 54, and remember all the vaccines. My grandmother on my moms side had a brace and walked with a cane as long as I remember because she had had polio as a child.

The epidemologist type dude on C2C says in the last two decades, there have been 152 polio cases in the US.

144 caused by the vaccine...

We had a cluster of Lou Gehrig’s Disease cases in my town around 1980. Very spooky, always makes you suspect that there is a common cause but I guess it was just a tragic coincidence.

It always gets me when I see some anti-vaccine crusader on the tube talking about mercury and human breast milk etc etc etc yada yada yada young, healthy parents who basically DO NOT HAVE A CLUE!!!

These diseases, polio, whooping cough. smallpox, killed MILLIONS.

Part of the reason old-time families had a lot of kids was it was not unusual for a few of them to never survive until adulthood.

This is serious stuff, and to try to make it out like some kind of new-age, kumbaya, back to nature, herbalist BS is dangerous and destructive.

Is it an autoimmune reaction to the vaccine or the actual contagious virus? Also Polio itself can come back on a person later in life with just as bad a vengeance but not in a contagious form.

A year after my wife's TM onset the physical therapist were measuring her limbs. The abnormal measurements barely notable to the eye were consistent with mild Polio. We figure she contacted Polio likely about age 5 or before. Later at age 35 she got run down physically and was under some extreme stress when the TM hit. She was also working in a nursing home at the time.

I think it’s the virus itself, and is fully contagious.

Remember how vaccines work, basically they inject killed viruses into the body. Your bodies immune system sees the viral envelope, membrane, and you develop antibodies that can now see the virus and destroy it on contact.

It’s not hard to believe that sometimes, not often, they don’t kill ALL the viruses, and a live one slips through.

I saw a lot as a kid in the 7th and 8th grade than most people don't see. I went to school with kids that had survived Polio, had MD, CP, Open Spine, you name it. It was a school built specifically for physical rehabilitation and associated learning issues. I was there due to sensory processing issues and learning eye muscle coordination from single eye functional vision.

Here was some rather strange things I remember. About 20 kids were Autistic. BTW this was a regional school serving six counties and two larger metro areas. It wasn't that common. One kid IIRC had no arms or legs due to a shot her mother took before she was born. ADD ADHD wasn't too common and I was diagnosed with it or rather misdiagnosed with it. This was in the early 1970's.

What has changed vaccine wise in the past two decades or so? One thing is the combination shots and another was the big rush to inject as many shots as possible at the earliest age possible. If there is a problem linking vaccines to say Autism I think that the spacing between shots and combined vaccines would be the logical place to look.

With pressures to get kids in school at age three of four and more and more parents using daycare rather than kids staying home the vaccines got stepped up. The vaccine in themselves may be safe and lower risk when the body is not bombarded with them.

That is the part of the vaccine program I think they need to seriously rethink. Also as a kid we had no Pre-K nor Kindergarten for that matter so parents weren't in a huge rush nor forced to be in such.

I think it helps to get the immune system strong as young as possible, and too many people these days want to live in as sterile an environment as they can make.

I mean I grew up in farm country, playing in the mud, playing in the streams, gardening and digging and playing with pets and wild animals.

Pretty much if there’s something out there, I was probably exposed!

LOL Me too. The swimming pool was a creek or the lake. A family with nine kids lived across the road so what they caught sometimes I did except for Whooping Cough. They all had it but I didn't. I had the Mumps, Measles of about every variety, Chicken Pox likely. The killer though which I did have a vaccine for was Small Pox. Still have the vaccine scar LOL. I was not bombarded with vaccines in a short period of time until I was in the Navy in Basic.

I read the AP version {LA CBS Station} of this story. The doctors claim it’s not Polio and that onset to full severity happens within two days. That sounds just like how Transverse Myelitis does. The onset can be as mild as a crick in the neck. The fact they aren’t getting much limb function back even more so sounds like it. TM and Polio are very simular in nature. If it were the Polio Virus they’d know real fast. They may never pin point the cause.

I have no kids in school, so am somewhat protected.

But you know what really scares me?

Money.

Think about it. A single dollar bill could infect hundreds of people before they even showed any symptoms...

I kinda sadly chuckle at the supermarket when I see the people getting all excited and wiping down the shopping carts with the safety wipes, then go into the store and USE THE CASH MACHINE, and SWAP MONEY BACK AND FORTH WITH THE CASHIER...

Who’s kidding who here, folks?

But I AM seeing more cashiers wearing latex gloves. Can’t say I blame them!

A persons best defense for the more common stuff like colds and viruses etc is simply try to keep their own immune system built up. Vitamin D3 helps, eat meat, fruit, some exercise, and try to keep mental stress low. Stress can play a major roll in illnesses more than most realize.

As for hand sanitizer? Really unless it's hospital grade it's not that good. Neither are antibacterial soaps for the home. If I'm doing something that requires my hands be cleaned and free of a potentially harmful germ or bacteria {sterile for medical treatment} I rinse my hands with 91% alcohol. It will kill about anything. LOL

And if we see another flu like the 1918 strain it will kill them in droves. That was a mixed human/animal variant and those can provoke a massive immune system response. They will drown in their own antibodies.
