The European Commission has referred Ireland to Europe’s highest court for failing to comply with EU laws ensuring competition and fair distribution of energy supplies, and is demanding a daily penalty of more than €20,000 ($27,400).

The EU executive has set a deadline of this year to complete the regulatory framework for the single European energy market and is taking action against member states that have failed to implement existing legislation. …

Why anyone would want to join the EU is beyond me.

And this is part why everyone insisting the Ukraine should allign with the economic death spiral that is the European Union is an unmitigated idiot.

Or personally corrupt.

No rational further options.

I certainly would not insist on it.

Sad that the two “Unions” on either side of the Ukraine won’t leave it alone. But that’s a repeat of history, for those who are not too blind to see it.

The best option would be a truly independent Ukraine but neither side is going to let it happen and they damn sure aren’t going to help it happen.

That’s what the media claimed the “Orange Revolution” was about. But no; it was about choosing the European Union over the Eurasian Union. (Just like the war in Bosnia was about the European Union annexing the Balkans.)

The whole thing has felt scripted to me. Too much the way the left manipulates events and issues here

Venezuela doesn’t have the same feel to it. It just feels more organic in my gut.

Ireland originally voted against the Nice Treaty. EU got a do-over and Ireland voted for it.

Ireland vote against the Lisbon treaty. EUgot a do-over and Ireland voted for it.

They’ll fold here like a cheap card table.

EU forced a do-over in both cases.

Funny how they didn’t do a do-over when the EU Constitution treaty died as a result of No votes in France and the Netherlands, but rammed it through in those countries without a popular vote.

Works on both personal and national levels.

Surrendering sovereignty results in becoming someone else’s punk.

Too true. Of course, the apparatchiks go full Alinsky once you remind them of their reality; it stings them.
