I’ve read several accounts of “protestors” being hired and bused in, and there are accounts of merceneries on the protestors’ side now. THe protestors want EU so that is commie stuff.
There doesn’t seem to be a “good” side. The protestors are sort of like Occupukes. But maybe not all are. The protestors are getting very violent. They think they can get violent and no one will hit ‘em back?
The history of the Ukraine is a difficult one. The only reason they fell under Soviet rule is because they were starved to death until they submitted. There has always been a dissident’s heart in the Ukraine. Many managed to escape during the Hungarian uprising in 56. After the fall the Ukraine should signs of being a stabilizing and somewhat democratic influence in the are.
They want the EU because they think it will bring them economic outlets AND more importantly (and unrealistically) defense by those in NATO

Very doubtful they’d cotton to that for long.
The protestors want the EU, the government wants closer ties to Russia.
