NCR: U.S. Guns, Not Obama, to Blame for Mexican Violence (Catholic publication)
Breitbart's Big Journalism ^ | February 15, 2014 | AWR Hawkins

In the second installation of a three-part series on "gun violence in Mexico," the National Catholic Reporter (NCR) continues to blame the U.S. for gun violence in Mexico, while viewing Fast & Furious as a legitimate attempt at law enforcement which just happened to go wrong.

According to NCR, Obama tried to reinstitute an "assault weapons" ban in the U.S. as a way to keep Mexico safer. He also pledged to "keep increasing the pressure on the gun traffickers."

NCR claims part of the pressure on traffickers included Operation Fast & Furious, which turned out to be a "botched 2009 operation to track gunrunners that resulted in ATF agents losing between 1,400-2,000 firearms," most of which were "assault weapons." Only half were recovered, and one was "used to kill a U.S. border agent," Brian Terry, in December 2010.

Ironically, NCR fails to note this "botched" operation rendered Obama's DOJ culpable in the very things Obama swore to fight against: "assault weapons" and gun trafficking.

After overlooking this, NCR shows Obama tried to fix the problems Fast & Furious created by passing more gun control for border states: specifically, a requirement that multiple purchases of rifles with detachable magazines and a caliber larger than .22 "merit [extra] documentation."(continued)

Oops! We forgot to put in place any method of tracking these guns until they end up at the scene of dead people. Our bad!

I hate writers who assume we are as stupid and gullible as they are.

I’ve yet to see a gun on its own cross the border, hunt down a human target, load it self, on its own aim, fire, and kill the human. Guns are not to blame for the violence.

Please don’t anyone think the NCR is Catholic. The people who own and staff it flaunt the name of “Catholic” but have no attachment to any Catholic or any other Christian dogma/doctrine/ethics/morals. Also do not confuse the National Catholic(sic) Reporter with the National Catholic Register which is a pretty solid publication.

he Catholic Church is blaming guns made in the U.S. that Mexicans buy, for the “gun violence”

The Catholic Church bears no relationship to the National Catholic Reporter.

Mexicans just gave a hero’s funeral to the convicted killer of an American police officer.

U.S. guns are the problem. Yeah, right.

The Mexican government submitted those guns to the ATF that the Mexican Government thought probably came from the US. All the other guns that obviously came from elsewhere, like from the Mexican army, were not submitted because their origin was already known to be not the US.

While “catholic” is in its name, this newspaper aka “National Catholic Distorter” is a dissident paper which has been publicly at odds with the Church since its founding in the 1960’s. No doubt it is widely read by Biden/Pelosi “catholics.”

National Catholic Register is an official Catholic news source.

National Catholic Reporter is a self described “independent” news that has been proven to be a deceptive farce funded by the left.

Her, closing the border down tight would prevent things going south too. Let me guess, the Leftists at NCR are against that.

Actually, it all has to do with Obama and his anti-gun program, which has spread US guns throughout the international criminal world.

It’s interesting that the current president of Mexico...a member of the PRI, which would be the equivalent of the Dems...seems to want nothing to do with Bambi. The Mexican president is doing a lot of privatization and reforms oriented at shrinking the government sphere, and this will pay off. Meanwhile, Obama is doing exactly the opposite and it will destroy us.

Well it’s true a lot of them are from the US. They’re sold to the Mexican army, which in turn funnels them to the cartels.

Travelers and idiots. Yup. The dam bursts globally. The constraint of popular ridicule requires an educated populace. Time for old books that have been swept from the academic shelves to find fresh fervid readers: want of a thing is in inverse proportion to it’s availability. Give it time. Maybe the ash-sweepers can re-create the republican form. Or maybe this IS the end of history. LOLCCMEO
