Amazon.com Inc. and The Home Depot Inc., both giants in their respective retail fields, are heralding the arrival of spring with major hiring surges.
E-commerce king Amazon said it will take on more than 2,500 full-time workers in several states as the company’s stable of fulfillment centers expands.
The employees will be hired to pick, pack and ship customer orders at facilities in Virginia, Kansas, South Carolina, Washington and Tennessee.
The online retailer said it hired more than 20,000 fulfillment center workers last year and that the median pay at the sites is 30% higher than the pay at traditional retail jobs.
Amazon has plans to open its fourth California fulfillment center in Moreno Valley sometime this year.
The 12-million-square-foot facility is to be staffed with more than 1,000 full-time workers.
Home Depot said Wednesday that it will ramp up hiring, bringing more than 80,000 spring workers on board for its busiest selling season.

I saw in the local news that Home Depot would be hiring here in Michigan. I guess with the coming spring, people are expected to make home improvements.

Hopefully, Home Depot will hire a few that know what a hammer is and where to find one in their store. That would be a first.
I’ve been in Home Depots a lot in recent years, in Fl, CA and WA. They seem the same everywhere... plenty of employees loitering around, but none of them know anything about anything.

The first thing I notice when I go to Home Depot is how many illegals are standing in the front of the store and the dirty looks I get when i park.

I was talking about the actual ones inside the stores, wearing the orange smock thingies.
I spent 35 years of my life in the Hardware Distribution Business with 2 privately held distributors. What you say about Home Depot is generally correct. Don’t expect them to be knowledgeable.
But I think they are better than Lowe’s employees on that point.
We have been treated well by Home Depot in general. I like them a lot better than most Mass Merchants. We have bought quite a bit from them. The store is 60 miles away from us.

Seasonal positions = part time for a season to spray water on the plants before they die of thirst, tote bags of garden soil or fertilizer, sweep up the mess on Aisle 5, etc. and most importantly up hiring in support of the Progressives before they get laid off after election time.
Its a wall with windows now but there was snow by the time I finished it in late October. Home Depot took a lot longer to get the windows I ordered than they said it would take.
We just repeated the process with Lowes again here in FL for our own home.. and that went well too.
We tend to use Home Depot more for tile, showers, and stuff like that.
