The just-opened eastern span of the Bay Bridge, already beset by questions about flawed welds and cracked steel rods, has a new problem: It leaks.
Rainwater is dripping into the steel structure beneath the road deck on the suspension stretch of the span, which is supposed to be watertight, Caltrans said. Outside experts say that could pose a risk of corrosion on a bridge that cost $6.4 billion and is supposed to last well into the 22nd century.

A classic example of government procurement and construction in this day and age. No problem, the taxpayers will be forced to pay for it yet again and nobody involved in it will be held accountable.
Yes, there is really a CA government agency that pertains to blueberries. That's how sick CA's government is.

The corruption and favoritism is running rampant thorough the American political system from top to bottom. Honesty is looked upon as weakness and theft from the government coffers is considered the right and privilege of all who do business there. 17 trillion in debt and the waste and theft goes on and on. Farewell, adieu, auf wiedershein, goodbye.
Meanwhile, Canada can’t build the bridge that they’re paying for across the Detroit river because Obama won’t release funds for approaches and related infrastructure on the American side.
Apparently we’re still being punished for the RTW vote.
Made in China. That’s all you need to know.
Hope Jerry Brown’s high speed rail project won’t be going across the Bay Bridge. My collapse due to an overweight of boondoggle.

The reason California is broke and will remain broke.”

But don’t you sleep better at night knowing that the Blueberry Commission is there?
no, the problem is that the Trillions of Dineros in “public infrastructure jobs projects that are all Shovel-Ready” ... the money was stolen.
(The only shovels involved were the big ones used to scoop up our tax money and stash it in private Swiss bank accounts.)
otherwise you’d see all kinds of significant new bridges, airports, freeways, water and power dams, generating plants, harbors....new TVA’s, new Boulder Dams, new LaGuardia Airports, new highways to relieve traffic congestion...new public university campuses....
all over Amerika, for that $6 Trillion in new debt he’s run up on our account.
Instead, you see almost NOTHING...
therefore, our money has been stolen.
I do agree with you that California has too many state agencies. The California ag commissions are overseen by the state but are self funding through per carton assessments on the produce. The purpose of the commissions are to set marketing orders to insure a standard of quality and to fund crop specific research. I serve on the Artichoke Commission and my position and that of my fellow board members is without compensation.
see tagline...
The substandard quality of an Affirmative Action, politically correct, government project lingers long after the outrageously inflated cost is forgotten.
Good to know. And, since artichoke is one of my favorite foods, thank you!
We in MA could have told you this. Remember the Big Dig, billions over budget and leaking from the first year.

Woo hoo!! And the first 45% is in!! Thank you all very much!! |
You do raise a very valid point though. California is over regulated many of these state agencies could be eliminated. I would vote for starting with:
California Legislative Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Caucus
which a taxpayer funded agency.
Well, look at it this way. With all the rework needing to be done till the 22nd century, no one will need question when will the bonds used to pay for the bridge be paid off so the toll booths can be removed.
I love introducing people to artichokes. They’re so baffled by them, and totally get lost cutting out the heart.
