Tennis star Maria Sharapova led a group of six notable Russian athletes for the torch lighting at Friday's Opening Ceremony.
Sharapova was joined by pole-vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva, former gymnast Alina Kabaeva (who has been linked romantically to Vladimir Putin), figure-skating legend Irina Rodnina, wrestling star Alexander Karelin and former hockey goaltender Vladislav Tretiak.

That’s funny. I think Maria Sharapova has done the same thing to my Olympic torch a time or two.

Tretiak was one helluva goaltender. Perhaps the best who ever lived.
Someone should ask Tretiak,if he believes in miracles!
I remember getting home and turning on the Miracle on Ice game in the middle of the second period and thinking, “who the hell is Vladimir Myshkin?”
The Soviet coach made one of the worst mistakes in history pulling Tretiak from that game.

Tretiak lost only one Olympic game in 4 or 5 Olympic Appearances....the Miracle on Ice
