“Yeah, we get our share of libs moving in, but they’re more than offset by conservatives instinctively relocating to the last American refuges, which are the big red states.”

Not sure about that. There are a lot more of them that there are of us. Most immigrating are coming from the major metro areas. Dyed in the wool progressives and aggressive in their politics. Florida is a good example. Once a very red state it is now a tossup state. Even my home state of Tennessee is seeing some change in certain areas. Most due to the influx of progressives from the NE corridor.

Are you talking locally, countywide, or statewide? If the libs are in the majority on any of those levels it will be reflected in the voting patterns. If your town, county, and state aren't yet blue, then you're still in the majority. If not - run.

Guess I would be talking statewide. Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Oregon, and Washington State come to mind of states that at one time were much more right leaning than they are today. Those I know on the left coast will tell you that the California immigration to their states had a profound effect on the politics. Same goes for NH. Have spent my fair share of time in NH and the native folks have no use for the “Masshole” who they blame for much of the problems facing them. With the immigration comes to the politics.

Yes, in-migration from liberal states has had catastrophic effects on many formerly conservative states. I grew up in California and watched the shift to the left happen throughout my adulthood. Don't forget that Ronald Reagan was once Governor there. That shows you how far the pendulum has swung in that one state.

That said, it's not true that there are "more of them than there are of us." Every Gallup poll run since the late 40s which asks the question of ideological leaning, has verified that only 20% of Americans have ever considered themselves to be solidly liberal, with the other 80% being almost evenly divided between moderates and conservatives.

When liberals invade a red state in large numbers, the conservative inhabitants don't just sit there enduring the infestation. They begin voting with their feet, and moving to more solidly conservative areas. Such an exodus of conservatives has been leaving California for quite some time now, and nearly all of them have headed to right-wing strongholds such as Texas.

In short, there's a regrouping of sorts occurring, and it's gathered speed and momentum since the Clinton years. I personally moved my family and business from California to Texas during George W Bush's fifth year in office - long before any of us had ever heard of Obama. The liberal destruction of my home state had already reached my pain threshold back then.

And I wasn't the last conservative to get the hell out of Dodge. The exodus continues even now, and I guarantee you they're not moving to Massachusetts.

Good for you. Glad you and your family made it out of Kalifornia. Your points are well made.
