With Anger Building, Boehner Puts the Brakes on Amnesty

In an abrupt switch from his months of work to bring immigration reform back from life support, Speaker John Boehner told reporters today that the issue cannot move forward until President Obama proves he can be a trustworthy partner to implement the law as written.

“There's widespread doubt about whether this administration can be trusted to enforce our laws. And it's going to be difficult to move any immigration legislation until that changes,” Boehner said.

The change in tack comes after rank-and-file members pushed hard against action on the issue this year when immigration “principles” when unveiled at a retreat last week and top immigration hawks had begun to discuss how they could thwart Boehner in his march to bring the issue to the floor.

In the hours before Boehner made his surprise announcement, lawmakers and aides had told Breitbart News that early discussions had begun about whether to force a special leadership election in the event Boehner moved forward with immigration legislation.

“It’s going to require blood if this happens,” one GOP member said.

...the issue cannot move forward until President Obama proves he can be a trustworthy partner to implement the law as written..

So then, he's saying the issue cannot move forward as long as Obama is president, right?

I don't hear the brakes being applied here, just the pressure on the accelerator being reduced slightly to keep the cops from pulling the speeding car over. The acclerator will be punched once the coast is clear, though.

I don’t trust that he’s dropped it, and if he really has he’s demonstrated enough poor judgment here to warrant him resigning the speakership.

If he doesn’t then he should be ousted.

Quisling. Really the only way to put it. In his perfect world he’d have waved a wand and wiped us out for good. Why leave that in charge?

I would love to see Ted Cruz and other (true) Republicans to come out and say “I oppose immigration reform. I support Americans first!”

Oppose ObamaCare and oppose Amnesty. Support the American worker who will be hurt by both.

Until this slushy weasel fires Rebecca Tallent, I'm not believing a word of this.

Now we have to watch every damned amendment to raise the squeal in time.

Rush had mentioned that the Grammy performances and social messages were designed to insult and mock their audience... I really feel that Republicans) are insulting and mocking Conservatives (their base) on purpose. I just don’t know why.

I agree. Taking the headline for what it was, I agreed, but you folks are right to push the issue. One never knows with this guy. Just when you think it’s safe, he pops his head up to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

But by definition Obama is NOT a trustworthy partner. What does Boehner expect to certify a change? Obama saying so? Crossing his heart and hoping to die?

The bottom line is neither Boehner nor anyone should trust their political opponents to change over to their ideology. It is simply not going to happen. In the case of Clinton after 1994, he didn’t have the votes so he coppormised a tiny bit. In today’s case, it is both Obama and Harry Reid that call the shots and has to be trusted. No way that is going to turn out good.

A damn stupid idea BEFORE the elections, John. Wait until we take out Reid.

Oh, wait, you WANTED amnesty!!! Not sorry YOU lost that fight.

Boehner realized his position as Speaker was about to be up so he decided to get smart. He had no support because both conservatives who are defending the country from traitorous perfidy and lib RINOs who don’t want to lose their jobs this election year were ready to vote him out.

He realized he can always bring amnesty up after the election. No point in giving conservatives tons of ammunition and getting other lib RINOs into trouble before the election. Better to bring up amnesty in a lame duck session after the RINOs have been voted out and have no office left to lose by voting their true lib beliefs.

until President Obama proves he can be a trustworthy partner

ahahahahah

AHAHAHAHAHAHA

excuse me now as I try to me regain what little composure I may still be capable of.

when DONKEYS FLY...cou;d oba,a PROVE anyting of a positive nature

a trustworthy purveyor of tyranny INDEED

a trustworthy partner?...not to anyone posessing a Moral Compass.

given obamas “carrying out” of the ACA..ObamaScare..the likelihood that strikes me is that Boehners bright enough to know that narry cant RESIST fiddling with the law to meed his NEEDS and Goals.

2 cents/>
