Give Sam Stein credit for being an honest liberal. Confronted with the CBO's findings about the disastrous job-killing effects of Obamacare, Stein didn't try to spin the unspinnable.
On today's Morning Joe, Donnie Deutsch invited Stein to play a game of Mad Men. Deutsch first sketched out a 30-second ad making the case against Obamacare--that contrary to what President Obama had said, you can't choose your provider and the program costs the country two million jobs. Deutsch then invited Stein to give the 30-second ad in response. Said Stein, much to the amusement of the panel: "The 30-second response is something like: 'Please change the subject to something else.' What do you want me to say?"

I saw it eating my Oatmeal, but there was more to it than that.
But they all seemed in agreement that the cutback in hours could be good thing, they called it job mobility, No longer will those Americans have to work to get health insurance because they will get subsidies for cutting back their hours and pay. They called it leisure. The American Dream. (see?? we all made it now.)
And Joe said that no one knows how ACA will play out.
They attributed the bad PR to spin.
Since Obamacare costs more than a healthcare plan provided through an employer, how do people pay for it while taking up basket weaving and pottery-making? Confused, as always.
Good question.
From what I have heard from a few sources, including a tax preparation service here, is that the substitutes are significant for lower incomes, near 100%, so being unemployed or cutting back hours is a way to get them.
That was the basis of this CBO prediction .
Its the old means tested welfare trap that EITC was designed to counter.
If you make little enough, then the subsidies cover most of it.

That is EXACTLY what European socialists say to defend their system.
I get it now; they’re not unemployed, they’re the leisure class. That sounds ever so much better.
Leisure? If their hours are cut back and they’re no longer getting employer-paid health care, chances are pretty good they’re no longer going to be eligible for other benes like pension, annual leave/sick days, etc. And if the cutback is in hours, that many fewer $$$ as well. Less contribution to employees’ FICA. It goes on and on.
BUT it will be an education to a generation or more of employees who took all their employment benefits for granted, while condemning the “boss.” So maybe I kinda like it, too.
A lot of folks will end up in 5 day a week “part time” jobs. 6 hour shifts instead of 8. It’s the same commute and there isn’t really much more free time. You just get a lot less money.
