Obamacare remakes the economy -- and it's not all that bad
Yahoo Finance ^ | FEb 4, 2014 | Rick Newman

...CBO says Obamacare, as the law is known, could cut the size of the U.S. workforce by 2 million people within 3 years...

That’s roughly double the CBO’s prior estimate...

Those 2 million jobs don’t represent people who will be fired or denied work because of Obamacare. They represent people who hold a job primarily for the healthcare benefits provided by their employer, and might choose not to work it they could get coverage some other way. “The ACA will reduce the total number of hours worked,” the CBO explained in its report, “almost entirely because workers will choose to supply less labor.”

This lie is in the same class as "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. PERIOD" and "if you like your health insurance, you can keep your health insurance. PERIOD".

If it's “not all that bad” why have the framers (the Rat Party elite) made sure that the rich, the powerful and the “connected” are all exempt?

And the people who will die because their health insurance was cancelled and can’t afford the astronomical premiums demanded by Obamacare, well heck, they would have died anyway, so it’s all good.

Is this CBO report the equivalent of a Financial Impact Statement?

“The ACA will reduce the total number of hours worked,” the CBO explained in its report, “almost entirely because workers will choose to supply less labor.”

Yes... it HELPS the economy when you pass laws that (even its greatest proponents say) will cause people to want to work less.

double-plus good-speak from the non-partisan CBO.

Why work to pay for your HC when you can sit home and have someone else pay for your subsidies. As Pelosi stated; now you can become a poet, artist, or go back to college and study 13th century Lesbian Literature

So now you don’t have to work as hard to earn health insurance coverage. Well golly gee, lets all get into that cart and ride. Why be the poor sap who has to do all the pulling?

I read the article and it fits in with Nancy Pelosi’s vision of a nation of loafers (’artist’ as she called them) or folks who are generally uncommitted to their jobs. This may seem good for any given individual, but I don’t see how it will not hurt the overall economy. Plus, the additional unemployed will find other interesting things to do, resulting in higher crime rates. Perhaps they will form the core of Obama’s tonton macoute “Domestic Security Force”.

Not really good for the individual either. The cliche that idle minds are the devil's workshop is not far from the truth. God gave us work to do. Even when the world was perfect, God gave Adam a job - to keep and dress the Garden. Likewise Paul wrote in his letter to the Thessalonians that he who does not work shall not eat.
No matter what the task, toilet cleaner, teacher, or doctor - all the work we do is to the Glory of a God. Idleness does not glorify His Name.

These are people who hold jobs to take care of themselves, but would rather have other people hold jobs to pay for their care. Only a liberal would think that type of change is a good thing; I've never understood those who admire parasites or who aspire to that status.
