President Barack Obama plans to travel to Saudi Arabia in March on a mission to smooth tensions with Washington's main Arab ally over U.S. policy on Iran's nuclear program and the civil war in Syria, a newspaper reported.

Obama is preparing to meet with King Abdullah for a summit, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing unnamed Arab officials briefed on the meetings.

"This is about a deteriorating relationship" and declining trust, said a senior Arab official in discussing the need for the summit, which was pulled together in recent days, the newspaper reported.

A White House spokeswoman declined to comment.

King Abdullah is also to use the meeting to question Obama on why he decided against airstrikes in Syria, which Saudi and other Arab officials believe strengthened Assad, the newspaper reported.

"The meeting in many ways will get back to basics," said a Saudi official briefed on the meetings, according the Wall Street Journal. "Why did Obama do it the way he did it?"

Is it that time of year again? Time to make the yearly trek to the Hajj?

Putting Mooschelle in a Burqa for the visit might be a Saudi prerequisite.

I doubt she will be taking the trip.

When I came up with the analogy, it was based on the unpolished nature of the Clampets. It wasn’t based on their education or moral values. I agree with your points.

What else will they discuss? Why did Zero back Iran’s own Mohamed Morsi from the git-go? Why did Zero do nothing to retaliate against Iran’s terror operation in Benghazi? Why did Zero “suddenly” change sides? Why does Zero continue to do nothing as Iran expands its control over Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria? Thanks kristinn.

“Majlis National Security Council Committee member Mohammad Ismail Kothari as reported by Fars: “Obama himself knows better than anyone that the U.S. is in no shape to attack any country… How can the Americans, who were defeated in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, stand fast against Iran’s defense force? [Addressing Obama:] If you make a mistake and act against Iran, be certain that we will fire with all our strength on your interests in the region…”

Watch to see if the Kenyan is wearing flip flops when he boards Air Farce One to make the trip. And keep your eye open to see if he goes downtown to buy a fresh set of Yessir/Yasser rags to make the trip with.

The TSA doesn’t do special checking for citizens of Saudia Arabia.

That must be worth a pretty penny...

Isn’t that the point of the farm subsidies? As I understood it they were to keep some land non-producing so there wasn’t an over-abundance of crops. It was called the Land Bank if I’m recalling accurately. Large crops could cause the market prices to crash, thus driving many folks out of farming? It was meant to be a stabilizing force, also a force to protect the food supply. If a lot of folks left farming, big agg businesses included, there would soon be large food shortages..

Now, is it gamed? Isn’t everything? We have folks coming into this nation and ripping off everything they can to the bone. There are folks here too, that game the system I’m sure.

I grow weary of trying to keep all these programs straight. Unless you’re tuned in to them all the time, watching the day to day details, it easy to lose track of their value.

As I said, I have favored them. I know a lot of Conservatives don’t, because they don’t want to see government involvement outside of it’s main mandates. I can identify with that goal.

If it could be proven that this program did protect the food supply, it would seem to me to be something of decent value to everyone. Even though the government would take tax dollars to pay for non-production, the benefit would go directly to every taxpayer who goes to the super-market.

In some instance, I think government involvement can have benefit. I don’t always jump in to scream bloody murder when the government gets involved, but I think we can safely say were talking about the 0.5 to 2.5%, and not the 97.5 to 99.5%.
