President Barack Obama plans to travel to Saudi Arabia in March on a mission to smooth tensions with Washington's main Arab ally over U.S. policy on Iran's nuclear program and the civil war in Syria, a newspaper reported.
Obama is preparing to meet with King Abdullah for a summit, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing unnamed Arab officials briefed on the meetings.
"This is about a deteriorating relationship" and declining trust, said a senior Arab official in discussing the need for the summit, which was pulled together in recent days, the newspaper reported.
A White House spokeswoman declined to comment.
King Abdullah is also to use the meeting to question Obama on why he decided against airstrikes in Syria, which Saudi and other Arab officials believe strengthened Assad, the newspaper reported.
"The meeting in many ways will get back to basics," said a Saudi official briefed on the meetings, according the Wall Street Journal. "Why did Obama do it the way he did it?"

Will he visit the rock?
OMG, the bowing to ensue...
Perhaps he’ll kiss their feet too.
You know, you can’t buy class and this guy hasn’t earned a dollar in his life.
He’s Chicago’s answer to Jed Clampet.
Gee, hope nothing goes wrong.
Lets hope he doesn’t f things up too badly. I still hold out hope of being able to visit the Kingdom once more some day; I want to share the incredible night skies I saw during Desert Storm with my wife.
At this rate, I’m not likely to be able to manage that anytime soon unless I happen to buddy up to one of the Princes.
t’would be such a pity
His master’s voice.
Just checking in with one of his bosses.
I share your....your.......your....concern.
Lets hope he never comes back, the Arabs can keep him
The XL Pipeline will be cancelled for “environmental reasons” when
More bows and ring kissing, huh?
~~~Will he visit the rock?~~~
Probably kiss it through that aluminum toilet seat-looking thingy.
Hes Chicagos answer to Jed Clampet.
It’s what I pray for...that he never comes back. After all, he loves to vacation and pleasure himself...one of these days his “vacation” will be permanent, for which I will give thanks to the Lord.
OK I’ll say it, keep the SOB.
Putting Mooschelle in a Burqa for the visit might be a Saudi prerequisite. It ain’t Hawaii over there for her royal big behineyness to enjoy taxpayer lavished bennies.
The Tyrant will tell them to HIDE, while Iran nukes
Israel and the USA. After all, HE is protected
and he wants his desired ‘final solution’ to both.
Is it that time of year again? Time to make the yearly trek to the Hajj?
I doubt she will be taking the trip.
Are they going to show mac daddy crawling on his hands and knees to kiss the feet of the of King Abdullah?
It will be quite telling if he does, won’t it?
With the NSA monitoring everything he has to get his orders face to face.
When I came up with the analogy, it was based on the unpolished nature of the Clampets. It wasn’t based on their education or moral values. I agree with your points.
What else will they discuss? Why did Zero back Iran’s own Mohamed Morsi from the git-go? Why did Zero do nothing to retaliate against Iran’s terror operation in Benghazi? Why did Zero “suddenly” change sides? Why does Zero continue to do nothing as Iran expands its control over Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria? Thanks kristinn.
Islamic group once tied to terror trial received thousands in farm subsidies, without growing crops
“Majlis National Security Council Committee member Mohammad Ismail Kothari as reported by Fars: Obama himself knows better than anyone that the U.S. is in no shape to attack any country How can the Americans, who were defeated in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, stand fast against Irans defense force? [Addressing Obama:] If you make a mistake and act against Iran, be certain that we will fire with all our strength on your interests in the region
Make sure to get a good shot of him bowing to the King and kissing the ring.
He’s being called home to his mentors that he is now screwing over.
Called on the carpet..
Is bammy getting some presidential kneepads?
“Why did he do it they way he did it?” The kenyan didn’t do anything. his hands are calloused only from sitting on them. next question please.
Watch to see if the Kenyan is wearing flip flops when he boards Air Farce One to make the trip. And keep your eye open to see if he goes downtown to buy a fresh set of Yessir/Yasser rags to make the trip with.
The TSA doesn’t do special checking for citizens of Saudia Arabia.
That must be worth a pretty penny...
Makes sense, Muslims are required to make a pilgrimage once in their lives..
Isn’t that the point of the farm subsidies? As I understood it they were to keep some land non-producing so there wasn’t an over-abundance of crops. It was called the Land Bank if I’m recalling accurately. Large crops could cause the market prices to crash, thus driving many folks out of farming? It was meant to be a stabilizing force, also a force to protect the food supply. If a lot of folks left farming, big agg businesses included, there would soon be large food shortages..
Now, is it gamed? Isn’t everything? We have folks coming into this nation and ripping off everything they can to the bone. There are folks here too, that game the system I’m sure.
I grow weary of trying to keep all these programs straight. Unless you’re tuned in to them all the time, watching the day to day details, it easy to lose track of their value.
As I said, I have favored them. I know a lot of Conservatives don’t, because they don’t want to see government involvement outside of it’s main mandates. I can identify with that goal.
If it could be proven that this program did protect the food supply, it would seem to me to be something of decent value to everyone. Even though the government would take tax dollars to pay for non-production, the benefit would go directly to every taxpayer who goes to the super-market.
In some instance, I think government involvement can have benefit. I don’t always jump in to scream bloody murder when the government gets involved, but I think we can safely say were talking about the 0.5 to 2.5%, and not the 97.5 to 99.5%.
Either way: DEAR SAUDIS, PLEASE KEEP HIM.
I’m usually on lynx. Can’t see any pictures. This was
a great followup otherwise [for those who get the reference]
