An open letter to the GOP on third parties and Lost causes.
The People's Cube ^ | Jan 2014 | Anonymous

Posted on 01/31/2014 8:20:24 AM PST by Voice of Reason88

By way of introduction – let’s just say I’m one of Millions of formally loyal supporters of the GOP. We are the people who donate small amounts and volunteer to make phone calls and knock on doors and do a myriad of others things we don’t like to do just to support the Republican party. We are the ordinary folks you ignore or openly insult – the people you are taking for granted.

We’re also the folks who are standing by dumbfounded as you’re doing the Democratic socialist’s bidding of creating a whole new underclass of Dem voters granting amnesty to the illegal invaders.

Do you really think there is any point in sticking with you people since you seem to be obsessed with defeat? Do you actually think that we’ll stick by you no matter what? Did people stick with the Titanic as it was sinking below the waves?

You say we will lose if we don’t support the party – well, we’re going to be losing anyway so ‘what difference does it make?’ [To coin a phrase]

I intensely dislike traipsing around strange neighbourhoods and knocking on doors for hours on end – but I did that for the good of the party.

I cannot stand calling people on the phone to go through inane call scripts – but I did that because I thought it was important for the future of the country. I helped prepare mailers and did other grunt work because I knew the country is on the edge of a precipice.

I tried to support you people whenever I can and what did it get my brethren and me? [Aside from the derision from fellow Conservatives that think we’re fools for continuing to support you losers]

Let me fill you in on a couple totally freaking obvious facts that have escaped your well healed notice: ~ A). The Leftist-Socialist National Media is NEVER GOING TO BE YOUR FRIEND – learn this really obvious fact and put it in big block letters over your desks so you can remember it.

Say it yourselves 100 times until you learn it – they are the propaganda arm of the Socialist Democratic national party and they cannot be appeased, and they certainly won’t be your friends. They must be defeated along with the main body of the socialist national left in this country.

Those people need to be defeated, not befriended. They are playing for keeps – we need to do the same. In Alinsky’s rules for tools, he refers to us as the ‘enemy’ – well it’s time we did the same.

B). The Media and the DNC are going to label you Racists, terrorists or whatever unless you cease to be Conservatives and become a variation of their Socialist selves.

Stop trying to answer their mendacity and label it for what is and move on – for once you end up on the defensive, they will keep you there. Take a page from the leftists and push a Conservative agenda instead.

The Socialist National left is like a baseball batting machine that incessantly hurls fast balls at your head. Its an unceasing process that will never stop

The minute you shoot down one their outright Lies, two more will be on your way.

C). Never do what the enemy wants you to do – this is so blindingly so obvious the great strategist Sun Tzu didn’t bother saying this self-evident truth.

So, what do you need to do to get us to stick with you and get us back into your good graces?

Good question [{I’m glad I asked it}

1). STOP SUPPORTING AMNESTY FOR 30 MILLION NEW DEMOCRATIC VOTERS.

[Can I be any more emphatic on that point?]

Mark my words, you can either drop the insane idea of amnesty for the illegal invaders or you can destroy the party - It’s your choice.

Pushing amnesty will either create 30 Million new voters for Democratic largess or it will fractionalize the party so badly that it will no longer be the ‘Loyal opposition’ to the Socialist National left.

The GOP will be deader than a Bull Moose as a result – does that sound like a winning strategy?

Either way will mean one party Socialist Democratic national party rule for now until Armageddon.

2). Stop insanely nominating Rinocrats in the futile hope that the media will be ‘nice’ to you and not put the full weight of their propaganda machine to work shredding said candidate.

How many times do you need to repeat that insanity before you learn the lesson?

3). Stop trying to outbid the socialist with government largess

You can’t outbid people willing to destroy the nation just attain some temporary power.

It should be plain that you need to stand up for Conservative values – that is the only thing that will save the country from it’s inevitable demise at the hands of the socialists.

IF you do not do those simple things to save the party and save the nation, I will bid you a quick goodbye and be on my way – along with millions of others.

You can stuff your endless appeals for my donations, and your admonitions to volunteer will fall on deaf ears.

We may be on our way to defeat with a third party – but we will do it with our head held high and our Conservative principles intact.

There is no earthly reason to stay with a sinking ship – and you people are heading straight on for an iceberg – and sadly, you don’t seem to know it.

We can and we will leave – many already have and the exits are getting pretty jammed up.

I can envision many of my Conservative colleagues yelling back at the paper – Hey, where have you been sister? We abandoned the stupid party years ago.

Let me just say in my defense that in most abusive relationships, each has their personal breaking point – many have already reached and are beyond that point. I dare say that if the current events hold to the trends as they are now, many more will join them – as will I.

Interesting interview with RNC committeeman Dave Agema explaining how speaking openly in support of the GOP platform led to the attempt by the GOP to force him to resign.

http://www.afa.net/Radio/show.aspx?id=2147490466&tab=video&video=2147543067

He really nails it in saying that the GOP reflexively runs for cover at the first sign of protest from the left and is always ready to offer up a sacrifice to appease. His most recent outrage is for saying that Sharia law contributes nothing and has no place in America.

It was for many – the author’s point is that the GOP’s argument all along of we’ll lose if we don’t stick together falls flat on it’s face when the stupid party is going about doing that all by it’s lonesome.

If they’re are playing to lose anyway, why stick around?

Only one of those options has any chance of success IMO. That would be the last one.

The GOP is a lost cause. Its too steeped in the philosophy of defeatism and capitulation.

I get your meaning.

I think she used that to make her point, but the Republicans are quickly writing themselves off as a part of the left.

We need a TRUE opposition party.

I’m not going anywhere. The GOP leadership is sadly mistaken if they can think they can sell out American citizens to the highest bidder and the opposition to it will just melt away. We need to be vocal and get right in their faces about it. That is the only way GOP who don’t pay much attention will know about stuff like the vet pay cut. The 2016 primaries are going to be very interesting!

However, I do think we need a block of (I) conservatives in the House. That’s about only thing that will put some real fear in the Cantor type corportists.

The GOP has a strange concept of “winning”. Any advantages they may gain or enjoy are quickly compromised away. At its core it is a party governed by anxiety, guilt and fear instead of courage, principles, and conviction.

Democrats understand the GOP mentality quite well, and take full advantage of them.

Part of the rage that people are feeling is that some are merely supporting amnesty in order to make a few bucks right now, with them not caring for the future of the country.

They don’t think they will be subjected to the same economic collapse like the rest of us.

It’s like someone shooting holes in the bottom of a lifeboat to get back at someone else thinking that they won’t also be soon fighting off the sharks.

1. Continue to hope the GOP will come to adopt and fight for traditional, conservative values and candidates.

Tried and failed. Time to give up on that strategy.

2. Work together to take control of the GOP and it’s resources and change the direction of the Party.

That's the Tea Party option. The GOPe is fighting it like a rabid, rogue elephant. They hate the people, especially those who want to separate the GOPe from the food trough of government power. It is coming close to the time to see that the patient doesn't want to be cured.

3. Leave and form a third party which will take years to develop sufficient size, scope, and resources to be able to have significant impact.

Unfortunately that will basically guarantee the Democrat's ascendance for a few years, much as the Democrats were in charge while the Whigs were thrashing out their death throes in the 1850s.

2 will be the easiest path, but even if the Tea Party takes over there will always be a poisonous Rovian core in the rebuilt GOP. 3 would be better but it is by far the harder path because the Democrats will get overwhelming control of the presidency and both houses of Congress for a while. I wish I had the wisdom to decide whether 2 or 3 will be the best. Maybe if a charismatic GOP leader publicly denounced the party and struck out on his own it would make number 3 far easier and shorter.

I’m conservative, a Washington-Jefferson conservative - an America first, no foreign entangling alliances conservative. Both parties run world entangling, trade deficit candidates. I vote Third. There is usually a good one there.

Me too. I reached this point in the 2012 cycle. Done. No more. This author seems to be willing to give it one more go.

Principles supporting freedom, family, prosperity and -real- security, not endless sand wars, would also go far to erode welfare state inroads on almost ALL demographics.

It is not even attempted anymore.

The post-Reagan GOP is a statist and elitist sham.

They judge part of that on the words from the media and their buds around town in Wash, D.C.

Term limits are starting to sound real good right now.

They’re very well aware, they don’t care.

Spot on. They don't care and think they know better. They view statements like the one here as just more "Tea Party hate speech," and they've tuned it out long ago.

Don’t you think the GOP committing suicide and taking the rest of us along for the ride isn’t an important issue?

I registered as an independent about 40 years ago. I’ve made few enough really good decisions in my life but that’s one of them.
One can always vote as one pleases but the entire notion of professing loyalty ahead of seeing a candidate always struck me something i was not prepared to do.
I pulled the lever for 3rd party candidates like Perot in my time. I intend to do so at any point in the future when any 3rd party candidate speaks with a voice of reason.
No party owns my vote. Only a candidate can do that.

Well it’s an important issue but it’s not “news.” The GOP has been doing this since the 1930’s.

We did not want Obamacare, and you Neo-Democrat RINOs gave it to us anyway, and we are the worse for it.

We DO want y’all to enforce existing Federal Border Laws.

WE DO NOT WANT IMMIGRATION REFORM ! Y’all gave us that in 1986, and we are the worse for it!

Now y’all say that “we need to cave in this year to Obama on Immigration Reform.” Why this perversion to betray us!?

This is the same GEE OH PEE pablum that you Neo-Democrat RINOs have been always been feeding to the gullible, low information voters.

McCain, McConnell, Cornyn, Boehner, Cantor, and Ryan are always “waiting for massive support from the Public” before they even consider doing a pitched battle with the enemy.

The “enemy” is y’a’ll caving in to Obama! Just enforce existing Border Laws!

Y’all go on TV to publicly beat y’alls chests, and then “reach across the aisle to y’alls good friends in order to get something done.”

You Neo-Democrat RINOs will never lead, will always wait for a groundswell of Public discontent before risking incurring the wrath of their most dreaded enemy: The Leftstream Media.

Note to all the Congressional RINO leaders: We gave y’all in 2010 what y’all said y’all were waiting for - - - - The Massive TEA Party Rebellion, and y’all fought us every step of the way, and are fighting us now more than ever!

We gave y’all the support that y’all asked for and y’all betrayed us!

Betray us once, shame on you. Betray us twice, shame on us!

LEAD, OR GET OUT OF OUR WAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, we have long memories, and just so y’all know, RINO SEASON IS NOW OPEN AND THERE ARE NO BAG LIMITS !

Don’t you think the topic is worthy of discussion rather than confrontation? Meaning to or not thats how your reply comes across.
I think, and we see this in Europe where winning local elections is attainable but the higher offices are still not breached by smaller parties. Unlike Europe we don’t have a history of forming ‘grand coalitions’ to form a government, (Please nobody bring up some obscure Whig related story. In Europe its the norm.), so we would be looking at uncharted waters. So the UKIP gets a voice but the equivalent here probably doesn’t. I say this because we all see what the current state of the Republican party is. Should a 3rd party take a few senate seats and 20-30 House seats its inevitable the two established parties will work to minimize any impact the new party will have. Look at the Repubs already doing this with those who identify with the Tea Party in Congress.
Truly winning a voice in the government as a 3rd party and not being told to go sit in the corner while the adults take care of business should take quite a long time unless currently elected members bolt to join it. That foundation is, in my opinion, necessary to cut the waiting time.
