Holder Confirms Obama Ready to Use Executive Order on Guns ‘in Absence of Meaningful Action’

Attorney General Eric Holder said at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing today that President Obama is open to using an executive action to push through gun-control and/or associated mental health measures that haven’t found approval in Congress.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), one of the top proponents of new gun-control measures in Congress, noted that Obama only made a “very brief” reference to gun violence in his State of the Union address.

“But I hope, and I hope you will join me in the view that the president remains completely committed to ending gun violence in this country, adopting common sense sensible measures like background checks and mental health initiatives; a ban on straw purchases and illegal trafficking,” Blumenthal said to Holder at the Justice Department oversight hearing.

***”..background checks and mental health initiatives; a ban on straw purchases and illegal trafficking,”***

Problem solved in 1968.

“Today we begin to disarm the criminal and the careless and the insane. All of our people who are deeply concerned in this country about law and order should hail this day.
- Lyndon Johnson when he signed the 1968 GCA into law.

What he means by banning straw purchases is to ban the people from buying the gun and gifting it to anyone.

You got it.
Oh and straw purchases and illicit trafficing,
wasn’t that what the ATF was doing just recently.
You know that too.

Mental defective who should be disarmed: anyone who voted against Obama. It just stands to reason, comrade.

Real world: any NY resident who ever consulted a mental health professional must turn in his state FOID & surrender his firearms.

It’s come to this.

On the bright side, look at how many resources it took them to not thoroughly secure one town. I was actually encouraged by that.

"common sense sensible measures"

Politicians generally resort to labeling something as a "common sense" when they can't provide any logical justification. "Common sense sensible measures" sounds like something that will make absolutely no sense to anyone but Kool-Aide drinkers/low-information voters.

“Look for a LOT of non-complience.”

I expect most of the illegal gun demands will happen at a couple levels above the consumer.

Just read an article on (Blumenthal's own state) Konnecticut's assault (scarey-looking) rifle and high-capacity (standard) magazine registration participation.

Only 50K of the estimated 500K affected rifles were registered - I suspect similar ratios in New York and other Commie states.

THAT'S what has them so pissed - non-compliance (by the non-sheep).
