McConnell in trouble in Kentucky senate race

Mitch McConnell, the leader of the Republican Party in the U.S. Senate, has low ratings among voters in his native Kentucky, according to a survey released Wednesday by Public Policy Polling.

According to PPP, 37 percent approve of McConnell's performance as a senator, and 51 disapprove.

He has a one point lead, 45-44, over possible Democratic contender Alison Lundergan Grimes.

Since the estimated margin of error for the survey is plus or minus about four percentage points, the senate race is essentially even.

There has been a "run of PPP surveys showing the two

candidates within a few points of each other going all the way back to last May," the pollster reported.

Proposals to raise the federal minimum wage may be a key issue in Kentucky, PPP reported, with 57 percent supporting it in Kentucky, 34 percent opposing and 17 percent saying the issue is important enough to them they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who opposes increasing the minimum wage.

McConnell is leader of an increasingly divided Senate Republican Caucus, which has split on a number of issues along conservative vs. moderate lines.

Grimes, 35, could prove to be a formidable opponent as the election draws closer. She was elected Kentucky's Secretary of State in 2011 with 61 percent of the vote against the GOP's Bill Johnson.

The worse the news is for McConnell, the better it is for the rest of us. For the Senate will be far more conservative with this worthless scheming, backstabbing weasel thrown out of office.

It's clear that McConnell's going to lose his office one way or the other. So let's make him lose to a republican, so a republican can keep the his seat in the Senate.

Bevin for Senate!!

Whenever it's a close race, and there's a recount, the Democrat ALWAYS wins.

Trust me I live in Minnesota. The lying Rats will cheat and win. Judges will find ballots under their robes, old ladies will find 100’s of ballots they forgot to count.

if it's close, it always goes to the RATS.

Bevin for Senate!!

He's got my vote. If Mitch beats him, I am NOT voting in the general. No more traitorous RINOs. And Harry's bitch is near the top of the list.

I want new polling for the primary. They’re hiding those poll results.

You know the Roves et al are going to go all out NOT to defeat Grimes, but Bevin.

Cue the “he’s too extreme to win” and “he polls worse against Grimes” BS talk.

No more RINOs. The old 'be a team player' con won't work anymore. The only way to change things is by convincing candidates that being 'moderate' is a loser - loser in the primaries, loser in the general election.

I think anyone who is pushing for McConnell to be the GOP nominee is patently liberal, and foolish...and t yes I mean you too Rand Paul

Bevin right now is a better GOP candidate vs the Dem as he will energize and turn out the base, McConnell can’t

Wait a minute...isn't McConnell a precious moderate who can get those elusive undecided and independent votes?

So why does he have Democrat opposition? Why aren't Democrats supporting him, and urging Grimes to drop out of the race for the sake of continued "bipartisanship" in Washington?

Where are the flattering New York Times' columns?

Same reason why super-RINO Lincoln Chafee was defeated. Dems hate Republicans, no matter how socialist they are

I completely agree. I also think that the GOPe knows that and is quite willing to give the seat to the Dems rather than let Bevin have it.

To: cotton1706; Logical me

RINOS are learning.

They are learning we can play chicken too.

We’re throwing them over, one at a time, even to a democrat opponent, during the primaries.

Maybe the hell they will quit putting up socialist R’s on our ticket every 4 years.

There has been a “run of PPP surveys showing... whatever we want”.

They are such a bogus media-meme-feeding outfit.
