Bush speechwriter: Obama plagiarized GWB’s 2007 SOTU
Liberty Unyielding ^ | January 29, 2014 | Howard Portnoy

As dark clouds continue to gather over 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, all but the most diehard Obama worshipers grudgingly concede that his presidency has entered its lame duck phase. Some analysts have drawn comparisons between the second term of the current occupant of the White House and that of his immediate predecessor.

Bruce Drake, writing at Pew Research Center’s Fact Tank, notes:

Barack Obama and George Bush have at least one thing in common when it comes to the second terms they won — the first year of their encores have been downers when it came to their public images. Both experienced falloffs in overall job approval and in Americans’ perceptions of their leadership, ability to get things done and trustworthiness.
For one observer, even last night’s State of the Union address had an oddly familiar ring, sounding like something George W. Bush might have said. That’s because the words were something Bush did say. Mark Thiessen, the observer in question and lead Bush speechwriter, had written them for Bush’s 2007 SOTU.

Appearing on “The Kelly File,” Thiessen said:

It was eerily familiar. There were lines like, “Our job is to help Americans build a future of hope and opportunity. A future of hope and opportunity begins with a growing economy. A future of hope and opportunity requires our citizens have affordable and available health care.” “Extending opportunity and hope depends on a stable supply of energy.” All of that came from the 2007 State of the Union address by George W. Bush. So, Barack Obama has gone from blaming George W. bush to plagiarizing George W. Bush.

VP Joey B. probably gave him tips on how to pull this off. He is an expert at it.

“He never mentions GWB by name in the negative anymore, he just says ‘... inherited...’ or ‘...when I took office..’’

It seems strange to me that someone who moved heaven and earth to obtain the office cries about what he “inherits.” Inherit hell, he bought and paid for it.

There are only so many phrases in the contemporary politician's platitude and cliche filled vocabulary.

There are no more Churchills or Reagans.

So a guy named Drake writes a story about lame ducks and their downers?. There’s a bad chicken joke in there someplace. I said yesterday that if I had to listen to the speech I was gonna dig out a duck call and quack my way thru it. I didn’t like the speech much when Bush gave it and it’s just as phony now. Delivering a truly motivational speech requires that one insert a couple of actual facts/proposals/plans in there someplace-—then hold the door open for the team to hit the field when you’re thru. The Kenyan just headed straight for the showers.

I compared both speeches, and there is no lines that are this close.

Same themes, but not surprising...what politician doesn’t talk about hope and opportunity, but hope was only once in Obama’s speech and nothing like the alleged plagiarized text.

Sorry, but this time we shouldn’t run with this nonsense.

Bush barely got past Gore and Kerry. Two complete idiots. They both should have lost in landslides but the GOP gave us W. Then along comes Obama, the biggest dufus in history, and he beats McCain and Romney. If that’s not proof of voter fraud, I don’t know what is.

Well, actually, there was a difference. Bush loved his country, Obama hates his...or at any rate, the one where he lives and of which he happens to be president.

The thing I thought was amusing is that Bambi was actually stealing an idea from Bush (to have retirement accounts for low-income workers) that the Dems condemned at the time as being too cheap and not enough government largesse.

RE :”It seems strange to me that someone who moved heaven and earth to obtain the office cries about what he “inherits.” Inherit hell, he bought and paid for it”

As a progressive he has to tell us how bad things are in American to sell his socialist agenda.

As a POTUS, to have any credibility to get support for his his socialist agenda he has to tell us how good he made things, this is because he has been in office for 5 years now, its not 2009.

These contradict one another.

So he sets his own baseline to compare his achievements against, what he ‘inherited’, the worst economy in the history of the world.

Has his cake and eats it too.

Does that say more bout Bush or Obama? hmmm

Good question....Sure seems the strengthen the argument that indeed there isn't a dime's worth of difference.

I don't recall Bush mentioning “affordable health care” once during his terms. In fact, I don't remember Obama mentioning it prior to inauguration, because if he had campaigned on it he would have lost.

Nope. A conservative journalist wouldn’t have their mind in the gutter 24x7 and if they did, they certainly wouldn’t be writing about it.

Well, he already “plagiarized” himself,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDDRiGIUYQo&feature=youtu.be

so it was time to try plagiarizing something better.

Actually he did campaign on it 2008. It was a BIG deal to the libertards. A string of victim type people witnessed that the medical system was broken. Zerocare was a huge part of the hope and change.
