Automatic License Plate Readers Targeting Lawful Gun Owners (Maryland)
Front Line State ^ | Front Line State

Are automatic license plate readers in Maryland alerting police when registered gun owners drive past them?

Recently we posted a story about John Filippidas, the concealed carry permit holder from Florida who was stopped on I-95 by a Maryland Transportation Authority cop. The cop detained Filippidas and his family for nearly two hours while searching the family’s vehicle for the gun Filippidas legally owns. The gun was in a safe back in Florida. No ticket was issued.

In a perfect world, states like Maryland, California, New York and Connecticut would be ejected from the United States with extreme prejudice.

Cut them loose and let them fend for themselves.

I wouldn’t put it past the jackboot ruling class to do this, but it is pretty unlikely. Even here in CA where we have fireams registration, there is no direct link to vehicle license plates.

Adios Constitution. Where the hell is Holder? Why isn’t he suing Maryland over this? What a hypocrite. If they used these things to catch illegal aliens, Holder would be all over it like white on rice!

Computers eliminate the separation of databases.

Shows like NCIS and Person of Interest are not very far out on the timeline.

The PoPo State is essentially here.

You are a subject now rather than a citizen with public servants.

Maryland does not honor any other State’s concealed weapon permit. However, several States honor Maryland’s CWP. What is up with that? Come on Maryland gun owners, get off your arseholes and march on the capital.

It’s scapegoating going on again. Usually in places that see problems with a lot of criminal shootings, those guns aren’t being used by honest owners to do that. So targeting the honest is counterproductive!

You forget that Holder was and still is a radical who committed crimes while at Columbia. The Leopard just cannot change its spots. He is not a hypocrite, he is a criminal who is the chief law enforcement officer of the USA. He is a prime example of the incompetent rolodex available to the democraps!

This is of concern to the Florida legislature. The government of Maryland stepped over the line in an effort to target citizens of Florida. It is, in effect, interstate piracy. As offensive as using a speed trap to target people with out of state license plates.

The proper response, about the only response, that Florida could carry out *that would matter*, would be to declare that state weapons licenses were no longer needed. And while that would not help current license holders, the list kept by Maryland would become outdated and much less useful.

Likewise, they should immediately cut off Maryland from any police data cooperation, directly or through third parties.

So, if this is accurate, CCW permit holders can no long travel through Maryland. Given that major North South routes on the East coast traverse Maryland, this would be a real problem and call for an Economic boycott, at least.

“Even here in CA where we have fireams registration, there is no direct link to vehicle license plates.”

LOL. Here is how it works: License plate -> insured drivers (you have to be insured, right?) -> state insurance agency -> state database -> datebases of CCW holders -> PD database -> cop’s car.

Seriously, computers make this TRIVIAL. And yes, it is SOP for the police state...

Pretty sad isn’t it.
This guy gets hammered.
And how many gang bangers bringing drugs from FL up north with illegal guns skate on by.

Well, since Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Massachuetts don’t honor my Florida permit, I guess I’ll be stopping at the Virginia line on my way up North. But to be honest, that’s as far North as I want to go anyway. I don’t have a passport for the liberal North.

I’d imagine that this connection would break down for a rental car.

If police were following their constitutional limits, it wouldn’t matter if they knew when every CCW holder drove by, because they still wouldn’t have probable cause to stop them. Instead, we have let police get away with stopping and searching anyone, and making up some cause to cover themselves in the paperwork. So, of course they will abuse whatever information they can get their hands on in order to target their illegal searches. It gets them arrests, and when they get more arrests, we give them more money.
