Robert Gates "Duty..." does not indicate that he knew of the danger of Obama. (Vanity)
Vanity

Posted on 01/26/2014 4:09:31 PM PST by RoosterRedux

I have been reading Robert Gates "Duty..." and am astonished to find no evidence that he was aware of an Obama takeover of America. I wish I had known this before I bought my AR-15 and a thou of ammo.

That said, I still don't know exactly what to make of this book.

Gates was with the CIA for 26 years and presumably would even know if their were extraterrestrials at Roswell...but he provides absolutely no alert as to an Obama (or communist) takeover of the U.S.

Please note that I am not through with the book...but so far...nothing.

And Gates is a straight talker.

I have only read excerpts of the book, but my fear has been....how much more does he know that he isn’t telling us?

I'm sure he knows much more than he is saying...but wouldn't there be an underlying tension in his voice if he thought America were going down?

I didn't get that sense.

Perhaps he has the blind-sided vision of a typical beltway insider.

But he doesn't see himself as an insider.

Gates stood by and allowed our men and women to fight a war that their own CIC didn’t believe they could win. He should have publicly resigned in protest. To me he’s no difference than that a-hole McNamara.

You are right...but what would you suggest that he should have done?

He apparently decided he could do more for our troops by staying in position than resigning in protest.

Perhaps.

But that would make him a traitor.

He doesn't seem like a traitor. He seems like an honorable man.

He was Sec Def under Bush before Obama...and had 26 years at CIA.

Hardly seems like a traitor.

Out country is bigger that even the CIC.

Gates also said that Obama's one point of passion was for the gays in the military. He has outed Obama if you read between the lines (which is exactly how his book was intended).

Only those who’d experienced up close the methods and the kinds of facades used by the Marxist Left would have known for certain bac in 2008 what the country was up against if their Manchurian Candidate got elected. Enough evidence and list of close friends was there and crystal clear for anyone who was not blinding himself to reality. They’d been working toward such a day for many, many decades.

Gates was in the CIA for 26 years. Who would have known if not the CIA (and yes...I know the Company is left leaning).

Bullshit.

I don't believe this man would turn his back on his Country.

Read the book to get a sense of the man.

If what you say is true, America is being betrayed by previously loyal Americans.

Why would they do this?

America is not perfect...but it is the best system invented so far.

Betraying America is not just betrayal of country...it is betrayal of humanity itself.

There aren't many people who qualify for that...the President, the Atty Gen, and a few others.

Actually he said more than he was supposed to. His agreement was to toss out just enough tantalizing tidbits to sell the book and no more. You will note from the neck brace that he was last seen wearing that he had exceeded his allocation and needed to walk back most of what he said. A smart prostitute takes the money and keeps his/her mouth shut.

Well, if things get as bad as some say it will and there was no way to stop the impending crash and if I were him and knew about it, I’d try to position myself the best way possible for the benefit of the ones I cared for.

As patriotic as I am, I could see myself doing similar.

This experiment has cracks that need fixing and if I was not able to, I’d shore my defenses for the good of my family. As selfish as that sounds, most would do the same.

I’m not discounting his service or loyalty either, just humanizing him. After all, that’s all any of us are.

First of all, thanks for your service.

But then, Paul Revere didn't ride to protect his family...he rode to protect a new country. A country which is greater than our families...greater than all we are.

America is God's work...His freedom manifest for the men and women who are willing to die for it!

I agree that America is Gods work.

I’m just not as quick to lump people bathed in DC politics in with folks like Paul Revere.

Maybe I’m just a pessimist .
