The Altoona Police Department arrested a Penn State Altoona student living in the city on charges of possession of a weapon of mass destruction, as well as other charges, after investigating reports he was growing marijuana at his residence.
Vladislav Miftakhov, 19, of 118 N. 9th Ave. was arrested late Friday night, and police said they found a suspected bomb and other bomb-making materials inside a suitcase. Experts from the Pennsylvania State Police bomb squad safely deconstructed the suspected bomb, authorities said, adding that Miftakhov told investigators he purchased the materials on the Internet over the past several weeks.
Miftakhov is listed in the Penn State Altoona directory as an engineering major.
He is charged with possessing a weapon of mass destruction, risking a catastrophe, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possessing instruments of crime, prohibited offensive weapons, incendiary devices, recklessly endangering another person, possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Miftakhov was transported to Blair County Central Booking for arraignment.

Is so, maybe my tax dollars paid for something worth while?
I'll be the kid was ratted out by his mother.
Just looking at the headline, do they mean he is here?
Can’t our government keep out foreign enemy combatants for $17 trillion in debt, 30-50% of our personal income?
Can’t the public get a clue that that’s the only real purpose of the government?
Whoever says NSA spying is good, needs to read this. The guy needs to be in Russia, as in never been here
Oh the stupidity
Bought the stuff off the internet. There’s your red flag!
Yes, he was taking classes at Penn State Altoona Campus.
Doubtful. According to local news, the "WMDs" were found by police "after investigating reports he was growing marijuana at his residence."
These days, pipe bombs = WMD’s.
“Weapon of mass destruction” could mean anything from a firecracker to a mini-nuke. I read the entire article twice, and they never explained what he had. What kind of weapon was it??
The deadliest WMD.
I’ve seen someone charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction and it was a shotgun. Seriously.
Was he carrying birth control pills?
That's a crime?
Couldn't every obama voter be arrested for "risking a catastrophe"?
I agree. I wish federal government officials could end up in jail for letting the US be over-run by invaders.
If he was, this administration wouldn't have him arrested, they'd put him in PJs and have him shoot an ObamaCare commercial.
Putin testing defenses?
