Gave it a go at the start of his show. Turned him off when he said the only great Americans were six feet under in a military cemetery.

Not my cup of tea. Topics like pot, pharmeceuticals, diet etc are boilerplate subjects for Savage and in my opinion indicate that he is hesitant to venture into uncharted areas. Too often it’s the Broken Record Nation.

Drugs and Anti-Depressants

Must be talking Colorado, haha. Saw a bi-plane over Denver during the playoff game that towed a big banner:

“Grow your Own!”, with a big pot leaf and website on it.

They’re calling the Super Bowl the Marijuana Bowl (SEATTLE - Potheads.... DENVER - New Potheads)

LOL

Savage just made a veiled reference to Hannity’s Freedom Concert controversy. Somebody was asking about it last week.

I tend to agree. It’s kind of a default topic for him. Most people here know my feelings on this, but I tend to favor Western medicine myself. I don’t see Big Pharma as the Great Satan. Much like our political a d economic systems it has its problems but beats the hell out of the alternatives, IMO. On the other hand I am not completely close minded about alternatives—accupuncture for example. It didnt work for my particular condition but maybe it would work for you. Ironically, one non-western practice that I am a booster if is Hatha yoga and Savage ridicules it, calling the practitioners nymphomaniacs.(Dont know what he thinks about the men.)
Savage endorses homeopathy. Need I say more?
Savages remarks after Angelina Jolie revealed her surgery last year in my opinion was as bad as his autism debacle, and that was the shot heard round the world, the talk radio world anyway. You want to know what I really think happened on that July day back in 2008? I think Savage had had a little to drink and got autism and ADHD mixed up. The next day he was too embarrassed to admit it and made phony apologies and tried to recast himself as the victim. Children probably are over diagnosed with ADHD, autism not so much, IMO.
I find it curious that he’s always bitching about mothers giving children sugary foods and drinks at Starbucks yet Rockstar energy drinks aren’t exactly the healthiest for young people.
As far as Peter Breggin goes, he was well known and had published books before he was on Savages show. For another perspective on him, see www.quackwatch.org

Sorry but this suicide-by-hanging business is a sensitive issue with me. Savage steps on the woman’s comments then suggests the bf should have had some vitamin C in club soda and asked a deli worker how his day is.
These types of cheer-up tips are good for the garden variety blues and situational moods were all subject to. But for the kind of mental illness this guy had, it’s like a bandaid on a sucking chest wound. Why were t the drugs working for him? Maybe he wasn’t taking them according to directions, maybe he was mixing them with other substances, maybe he just wasn’t being adequately monitored.

Agreed. Was thinking the same thing as he was saying it.

My father committed suicide by hanging in 1963—that’s why I’m so sensitive about it. I guess that the drugs were in their infancy then, but I like to think that they might have saved him if he had lived a little longer. He was afraid of electroshock therapy as well as the stigma of a stint in Warm Springs(me tal institution)I know that the drugs aren’t perfect, but then neither are most treatments for serious illnesses. My arthritis medicines have side effects. Cancer drugs have side effects. But still.

On another health note: Fox Q13 reported that 100 patients at Seattle Children’s Hospital(part of the UW system) may have been infected with dirty colonoscopy equipment. Yuck. And what are kids getting colonoscopies for? I bring it up because I tend to agree with Savage on routine colonoscopies. I’m at the age where they nag you about it

Very interesting how Mark Levin is knocking Savage so hard today, yet quoting extensively from Aldous Huxley, one of Savages favorite authors.

Levin mad because Savage picked on the Wallbanger about his Freedom Concert charity shenanigans? I gotta catch the podcast later.

Well, the Freedom Concert brouhaha was several years ago. Savage discussed it more at length then. It’s not a new issue and I don’t think there have been new developements. Still Savage likes needling Hannity about it. Yesterday’s reference was so oblique you’d miss it if you weren’t listening carefully.

Today is one of those very self-focused shows. I had wrongly predicted that he would talk about the new policies in the military regarding peoples’ religious expressions or else the man in Texas who wants his wife taken off life support.(Lars Larson talked about that one today.)

Nice going, Savage, slamming Habitat for Humanity and other volunteer work. What does he mean—”fake houses”?

Here’s a story of possible mental health malpractice for you. I would post it but can’t figure out how to post things here. Anyway a therapist in Bothell WA is in trouble and fined $3000 for among other things, her advice to the adopted family of a 15 y/o girl to all sleep in the same bed. The girl was subsequently molested by her adopted father. I’m not a fan of the “family bed” concept, for reasons too numerous to go into here. And I have a feeling that there may be more to this story that we are t getting. The girl was “rescued”( their word) from a polygamous sect in Utah where she was reportedly sexually and physically abused. But what really bothers me about this is the implication that the father had no responsibility for his own actions at all. Was it this therapist’s idea for him to molest her? And what about the mother? They’re acting as if he was the family cat who killed a pet gerbil because of somebody else’s actions. Well, maybe this will cause the family bed fad to fall out of favor, which would be good IMO, but I still hate to see men and fathers demeaned this way

never though I would say this but listening to this guy makes me miss Hannity. He does not sound like the Savage of old. They put Savage on the blowtorch affiliate in DC and moved Hannity to a station with the equivalent of the traffic alert signal.

I don’t think Savage will make it to summer in his current timeslot.

-— “They put Savage on the blowtorch affiliate in DC and moved Hannity to a station with the equivalent” -—

They didn’t put Hannity anywhere they just dropped him from all their stations. And Savage is here to stay! If you really miss Hannity listen to any podcast of the last 10 years it all sounds the same. A broken record, boring and dull.
