Republican leadership negotiates away stop to IRS targeting of Tea Party
Vanity | 1/17/2014

Did the Republican leadership just endorse one of the most shocking abuses of government power -- Obama using the IRS as a weapon to muzzle his political opponents?

According to the Wall Street Journal:

"That's the big, dirty secret of the omnibus negotiations. As one of the only bills destined to pass this year, the omnibus was—behind the scenes—a flurry of horse trading. One of the biggest fights was over GOP efforts to include language to stop the IRS from instituting a new round of 501(c)(4) targeting. The White House is so counting on the tax agency to muzzle its political opponents that it willingly sacrificed any manner of its own priorities to keep the muzzle in place. "

How could the Republican Leadership negotiate away a stop to IRS targeting and silencing of political opposition? You can't negotiate the civil rights of a political group like some budget line item.

A Republican leadership that submits to it is guilty of malpractice.

It's no secret that the Republican leadership has declared war on the Tea Party.

Perhaps what really happened is they said, oh yeah, we hate them too, let's high five Obama on having the IRS target our shared political opponent, the Tea Party.

This is far over the line, it is thuggery.

Not surprising, I’ve been saying for a long time that the republicans and the Rats are just two sides of the same coin. Most people here barf at the thought of Ron Paul being elected President but he was most likely the only one that would have put a stop to this.

Exactly right. Anyone who thinks that Issa is doing any good for the country is hopelessly naive. He is releasing some of the pressure with the pretense of consequences.

.... The GOP is no longer interested nor concerned about winning elections .... their main focus and interest is in becoming a kinder gentler Republican Party and nation as laid out by G.W. Bush.

.... For whatever reason ..... Because the Republicans were unable ... or unwilling .... to defeat the Democrat Party Ruled by Barack Obama in the last Presidential Election .... they have in effect handed over the Keys to the Kingdom to the ones who seek to destroy this Nation.

..... In doing so ..... we may well have helped them to achieve what could be considered as Absolute Power. It is entirely possible that there is now nothing that can stop them.

Two years ago, it was Chris Stevens,

Today it is US - We the People.

-surrounded by the enemies who will see us dead, yet abandoned by our own government.

With the latest ‘regulations’ the IRS will be enforcing, there is no way in hell that I will ever see another Republican President in my lifetime.

I kept wondering, as obama lied and lied in the debates and Mitt was treated horrendously, why there were NO commercials being aired by any conservative groups explaining the Republican side, introducing the real person that Mitt is, and clearly exposing Obama’s many lies - thanks to the successful IRS attack on conservative organizations, there were no commercials, and that is what is going to happen in all future elections.

While the Republican establishment wastes its time fighting with its own supporters.

I have given up hoping.

Ya. Sad.

What they need is to play the good cop bad cop game. The bad cop is charged with exposing all of the lies while the good cop can play the Kumbaya candidate.

Hey Republicans, ARE YOU LISTENING?

This could have been one of the biggest years for the GOP in a century. Instead the GOPe has decided on a suicide run.
