On last night's show, Mark Levin called for Republican congressmen and senators to boycott Obama’s State of the Union Speech on January 28th.
Obama openly despises our constitutional process. At his first SOTU, he mocked the justices of the Supreme Court with whom he disagreed. From his first day in office, he told the world he would rule with or without Congress. That is one promise he has kept.
This past week alone, Obama assumed, for practical purposes, the House of Representatives’ power of the purse. Yesterday, the Senate passed the House omnibus budget. Not a single rank and file member knew what he voted for.

No representatives of a free people should legitimize Obama.
To attend the SOTU is to condone tyranny.
The simple fact of the matter is that, whether or not the SOTU, I cannot stand the sound of that girly-man’s voice. I will not tolerate listening to its voice for 5 seconds, much less 1-1/2 hours.
I like this Levin idea...it would send more of a message than an Article V confab. The liberal media and RINOs would blow an aneurysm over this

I completely agree that they should boycott it but they don’t have the guts to do it.
If Obama didn’t know the Congress would acquiesce, he wouldn’t be making these power-grabs.

No more than a handful of Repubs will be absent at the STFU speech.
Not going to happen. But they COULD just sit on their hands and not applaud or cheer.

They are too cowardly even to use the constitutional tools at their disposal to confront this rogue president.
He has a rotten radio voice but a great mind and spirit.
Not gonna happen here in AZ. My two Senators are big Obastard fanbois (McQueeg, who endorsed Obastard for President in 2008 and Flake, who flipped and endorsed Obastard the instant he was elected in November). A couple of the AZ reps might, but most are Rats now. Mine is a proudly lesbian, so you know she’ll be there with bells on.
I doubt they will. Doesn’t matter to me. I’ve boycotted every one of his SOTU addresses.
Levin’s Article V idea has been preempted by Soros. I don’t trust what the Convention of the States might pull on us.

Not only an Art V would be hijacked by a Soros or similar other statists...you will be asking politicians to implement Art V who cannot even follow the Constitution

Levin must think there are more than a handful of Republicans with principles. He is wrong. The vast majority will be there to get on TV, just as Sheila Jackson Lee used to rush up to Pres. Bush and practically kiss him on the lips so she could be seen. We are dealing with a party of Sheila Jackson Lees.
I am totally for an Article V convention as you can see from my tag line. BUT, you hit the nail on the head for one good reason to not have a convention. The DC tribe will just ignore any new amendments made as well as the rest of the constitution.
On the other hand, a convention will force the statists on the defensive where they would once again overplay their hand.
I sincerely hope that the first conservative president returns to the early practice of sending congress (as is required in the constitution) a SOTU in writing, not in person.
It wastes millions of dollars and shuts down the government for weeks in getting ready for that televised “dog and pony show”, that achieves *nothing* of value other than an ego boost for the POTUS, and even *that* it does poorly.
In addition to sending the SOTU in writing, the POTUS should arrange for each and every cabinet officer to present their agencies budget to each appropriate congressional committee in writing, a month before they testify before those committees, not to read a statement, but to address questions by committee members. Of course, committee members should send questions prior to that for which they get answers prior to that as well.
This should not be done on camera, but a written transcript of the briefing should be available after the fact.
The POTUS should be clear to a conservative congress that he wants massive budget cuts, even entire agencies eliminated, and the budgets of agencies that were out of control during the Obama years should be dealt with accordingly, along with firing those individuals involved in breaking the law and prohibiting them for employment by the government in the future.
Likewise, he should select cabinet officers specifically to downgrade agencies on the way out.
