Nearly a half million Californians enrolled in Obamacare health plans through the end of December, according to data released Monday.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said 498,794 Californians picked health exchange plans, which gives the state 23 percent of the nearly 2.1 million enrollments nationwide.

Considering the state has about 12 percent of the nation’s population, California has been more effective than other states in enrolling residents. The state has nearly met the lower threshold of predictions that call for 500,000 to 700,000 Californians to buy policies by March 31.

“There is a feeling of optimism here and, hopefully, there is a feeling of optimism among consumers because they’re finally getting the coverage they have wanted,” said Larry Hicks, a spokesman for Covered California.

The question is, what kind of coverage? I’ll bet the majority of them are on Medicaid or other tax-payer funded care. My guess would be 499K illegal aliens on free health care.

And millions of taxpayers who have lost their healthcare.

“...My guess would be 499K illegal aliens on free health care.”

Beat me to it.

And you are most certainly correct.

The majority are in the “Silver” plans.

Usually those are the plans chosed for both a lesser premium and the amount of subsidy.

It would be very interesting to see how many of the working poor are enrolled and the amounts of subsidy paid out.

Face it, no matter how awful the enrollment numbers are. On April 1st (appropriately April Fools Day) the administration will declare that hit all their enrollment goals and Obamacare is an complete success, a lie that will be gladly trumpeted by the liberal media.
