Students at PS 106 in Far Rockaway, Queens, have gotten no math or reading and writing books for the rigorous Common Core curriculum, whistleblowers say. The 234 kids get no gym or art classes. Instead, they watch movies every day. The kids have seen more movies than Siskel and Ebert, a source said...
The principal Marcella Sills, who joined PS 106 nine years ago is a frequent no-show, sources say.
Sills did not come to school last Monday. On Tuesday, she showed up at 3:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, The Post found her at home in Westbury, LI, all day before emerging at 2:50 p.m. school dismissal time. Wearing a fur coat, she took her BMW for a spin. She showed up at school Thursday, but not Friday.

With this new mayor she’ll probably be superintendent of the whole district before the Easter Bunny gets here.
And she's likely the low person on the totem pole in the district when it comes to principals.
We need to end this, we need to end lifetime benefits; all government salaries should be a flat salary, they can buy whatever benefits they choose as it would be contrary to the budget making authority of new administrations to saddle them with the poor decisions of before. Not to mention previous budgets shouldn't determine future budgets.
Because it doesn't matter if it is a Bush in the White House, a Clinton or even Obama, the same thing continues to happen: public employees are stealing more and more every day.
The important thing here is that the principal is an oppressed minority, so at least the school has diversity and tolerance. We wouldn’t want an evil white man running it, now would we?
Don’t worry, the Communist mayor will fix it.
Why you want they be all actin’ white?
Hmmmm....no Union mentioned...
No “method” will fix a spiritual sickness problem.
Teachers and teachers unions doing what they do best, taking whatever they can steal for themselves and standing behind union thugs when they are caught.
I’m sure her poor performance is due to her horrible pay, maybe another 80k for her and a city owned BMW will solve it. /s
We need to end this, we need to end lifetime benefits;
The principal is gettin’ a raise !
I suspect she is getting kick-backs from school vendors. $128K doesn’t buy the lifestyle she is living. That or she is dealing drugs.
No one knew that inner-city schools are a nightmare. Everyone is shocked. Shocked...
This may very well be the worst “education” situation that I have ever read in my life.
So now I know what is considered acceptable language on this site. That’s fine, I can handle it. Just didnt know the S Word is now OK.
In a way, you're very correct. Even if it turned out that this principal was breaking district policies, it is very unlikely that she could be summarily fired. No, to protect themselves from getting caught in their own schemes, public employees have a rigorous review system which can take months, if not years, to conclude all appeals. Meanwhile, the public employee continues to get salary, benefits, vacation time, sick time, even if their 'job' consists of showing up daily to sit at a table reading a book while the process continues.
Because this is what is happening across the country while districts review the impact of criminal charges against teachers who molested students, hit students, etc.
Most religions teach that the retribution against evil occurs immediately, that punishments are dealt out at the time of the crime, not years or decades later. 'Why do I need to bother going to church? I can just live until my death bed and summon a priest to hear my confession and absolve me of sins.' That thought certainly predates modern times.
Mayor DeWilhelm will take care of it. A promotion is in order.
Bravo! Well said.
ok this was funny.

“You didn’t infest that!”
Thus is caused by VOTING....
The ballot boxes have been stuffed for generations..
and those that aren’t.... well.... there are none that aren’t..
Republicans are delusional.. and democrats keep them that way..
And the “instant karma” is emphasized in Christianity too, in the sense that how you deal, so will be dealt to you. It’s just plain true: Her life of luxury is beyond a doubt empty and aching.
But mainly I mean the sorry and confused people who let her get that post in the first place. Wink and nod never quite delivers on its promises. It is a forever envious, cheap and tawdry pursuit. Only pride prevents those who do it from confessing and making the story obvious to all.
This is no doubt happening many places in NYC. But at least the citizens are safe from Big Gulp sized sodas. /s
Agreed. It is also a perfect descriptor for “Blue” states generally.
Why do I get a big scary warning when I click on the link? “... do not follow this link or you will be banned from the site...”
It’s obvious that we’re just not spending enough on EDUCATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She looks a lot like”MOOCHELLE”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where is her conscience?? If it were me I couldn’t live with myself with the school in such a shambles under my watch. Just disgusting!
On O’Reilly today there was a segment about the teacher’s union trying to get 10k out of the tax payers for an ex teacher/convicted student molester who is now in prison for it. The union rep would only say “no comment” and “get off private property”.
And practically any “city” anywhere.
She does it for the children.
Or for the union?
The teachers pretend to teach, the students pretend to learn, and the parents pretend that the teachers are teaching and the children are learning.
That's why the system is so hard to change.
“Chickens Attacking Children”
A few years ago, I would have said unbelievable, but now, nothing surprises me.
I suppose that the parents are all poor, many single parents, so its difficult to take a stand.....buy maybe a local church can open their doors for a few days and help with the kids....maybe schedule the media to come by and film them....
and remove any rights these people have to lifetime employment no matter how incompetent....
teaching and nursing used to be called “vocations”.....because you knew your work was for the good of the people...
Oh, how I’d love to write some ‘Laheyisms’ but I don’t know if the s word is acceptable. hahaha
“You know what a s*** barometer is Bubs?
It measures the s*** pressure in the air. Feel it. Listen Bubs, hear that? Sounds of the whispering winds of s***. You hear it?
[No I don’t hear anything.]
Oh but you will my sorry little friend when the ol’ s*** barometer rises and you’ll feel it too. Your ears will implode from the s*** pressure. You were warned Bubs but you picked the wrong side. Beware my friend, s*** winds are a comin’.”
Her coat looks like it’s made of rats from housing projects. I’ve seen nicer-looking road kill, frankly.
And as far as your accusation of stealing, I really resent that. I've bought many of my own supplies for decades, as do many of my colleagues. I've maintained nice menageries of critters in school on my own dime. I've put in ung-dly hours writing lessons, grading papers, calling parents---AFTER I leave school, AFTER my official hours, on my OWN time. Right now, copy paper is sooo short in school that a colleague had to ask the KIDS to chip in so she could xerox their review questions for a big exam.
Stop making generalized and inaccurate accusations; they do not flatter you.
Yeah, but are you typical?
My God, it’s BIG MOMMA. And we thought that the Chicago Welfare Queen was something. Maybe her twin sister, huh?
She does have that Mooschelle O look, doesn’t she?
bttt for later
Typical for what? The VAST majority of teachers that I daily observe hardly ever stop working. Even eating their lunch is alternated with grading papers, calling parents, xeroxing handouts (when there is paper to do so!), etc. And the ludicrous Commie Core Curriculum and Danielson evaluation system (nothing but a time-leaching gotcha system) take away further time from the essentials, like WRITING LESSONS. Teachers have to be mainly concerned with jumping through the 22 hoops that the Danielson evaluation system demands, and offer “artifacts” of their teaching, to prove that they taught according to the 22 criteria. This is more important than spending time with students. There’s only so much time in the pie, and these new ridiculous things make each essential slice so much the thinner. Teaching in NYC high schools these days consists largely of having groups of kids read handouts and puzzle out questions among themselves, with the teacher only providing minimal assistance and very few notes. That’s what they want, from word on high. That’s supposed to be better than the teacher lecturing the students and the students taking notes. Which is what they WILL do in college, so they better get ready for the Big Fall.
