Immigration Reform Unlikely To Pass Before 2015, Says Rep. Issa
Tech Crunch ^ | 1/7/14 | Gregory Ferenstein

Hopes for undocumented immigrants stranded in political limbo will have to wait at least another year. In a wide-ranging interview on congress’s next session, Representative Darrell Issa, who drafted the high-skilled version of immigration reform, says there’s too much “animosity” on the issue within the government to find a meaningful compromise before the next election.

“Comprehensive immigration reform is hard to do with the best environment between the executive branch between the House and Senate. We don’t have the best opportunity,” he explains. “if we can find a compromise that is bi-partisan on the 11 million [undocumented workers], I think we begin to defuse some of the animosity. It doesn’t mean we get a bill past for the next election.”

There is a serious tech-talent shortage in Silicon Valley, but the relatively popular plan to admit more high-skilled immigrants has been held hostage to comprehensive reform, which includes finding a solution to the roughly 11 million undocumented workers currently living in the United States.

How about enforcing existing immigration laws as a “compromise”.

In other words, they want to wait until a non election year to give the peasants plenty of time to forget their treachery.

any immigration bill coming out of the House will be merged with the Senate Amnesty bill in conference.

http://www.hairyheadlines.com/kill-the-amnesty-bill/
Only chance to stop the Amnesty bill is for the House not to consider any immigration related bill at all.
Six big problems with the immigration bill from someone who has actually read it

Michelle Bachmann- ANY House bill no matter if it promises all the border security in the world will be a trojan horse. NO bill at all must come out of the House because it will be merged with the Senate Amnesty and trojan horse bill. Call Congress.

Tom Tancredo echos what Michelle Bachmann said.

Former Rep. Tom Tancredo can see it coming: Even if the House passes a perfectly conservative bill to reform the nation’s immigration system, the Senate Gang of Eight will water it down in a conference committee and leave Republicans little choice but to get rolled and vote for a bill they don’t like.

His advice to his former colleagues: Don’t bring up a bill at all.

I hope the Republicans in the House hold the line.call them to tell them to

RE :”Immigration Reform Unlikely To Pass Before 2015, Says Rep. Issa”

Its hard to tell if they are serious on this, when continuing to push it out in the next future, or if they are just leading on those who demand amnesty.

that carrot on a string keeps on being pulled from them.

“finding a solution to the roughly 11 million undocumented workers currently living in the United States.”

I think our current immigration law call for deportation.

Immigration reform - yes, in 2014 - yes!!

I support immigration reform in 2014 - it is a must - and this what I support:

#1 is seal both north and south borders from illegal entry.

#2 remove all Obama restrictions on the Border Patrol and allow them to do their jobs.

#3. All Immigration judges are to order immediate deportation of all illegal aliens charged with crimes - all crimes.

#4. Pass legislation forbidding illegal aliens from accessing any and all welfare benefits derived from federal funds. (ditto - education)

#5. strictly enforce the law prohibiting employers from hiring illegal aliens.

#6. Pass stringent laws denying citizenship to children born of two non-citizens (legal or illegal) The Constitution does so state this but has been misinterpreted over the years per some(many?)constitutional scholars.

With the above in place self-deportation will take place. This is real immigration reform

This I support and no more!

Wouldn't that be a change? Or they could start by deporting the most undesirable (drug mules, gang bangers) in return for amnesty for the most desirable (tax payers, valedictorians).

The trouble is that congress fears the Brown KKK (La Raza, MALDEF, etc.) more than they do citizens and legal residents.

We don't need "immigration reform", we need "immigration enforcement reform". They always leave out the magic word.

If illegal immigrants are undocumented workers, then shoplifters are undocumented shoppers.

“There is a serious tech-talent shortage in Silicon Valley”

Ranks right up there with “Obama has a good work ethic.”
