A lefty is a lefty whether you call him a Communist or a Progressive. They eat from the same bowl.
Anyone who uses the phrase “national conversation” (an ambiguity on the same scale as “global warming”) is only worth listening to in order to get a reading on where the loonie tune Left is at this particular moment.
I would also postulate that the argument that an elected official is not “left enough” made by a radical is simply a hedge against the coming failure of that official to improve the general condition of the citizenry.
Even the wiseguys on the Left know that leftie remedies are doomed to fail. So, they must prepare accordingly.
Not harder, just more open about it.
