Federal government to recognize same-sex marriages in Utah
Fox News ^ | 01/10/2014

Attorney General Eric Holder said Friday the federal government will recognize more than 1,000 same-sex marriages in Utah, despite an earlier announcement this week from the state’s governor saying the state would not.

The decision means those Utah couples will have access to federal benefits that are available to married couples in other states, including the ability to file joint tax returns. It also adds to the confusion in the state following a surprise ruling last month against the state's same-sex marriage ban.

Hundreds of gay couples got married before another court put those weddings on hold. The Justice Department statement marked the first time the Obama administration formally weighed in on the debate with any action.

“Recently, an administrative step by the Court has cast doubt on same-sex marriages that have been performed in the state of Utah. And the governor has announced that the state will not recognize these marriages pending additional Court action,” Holder said. “In the meantime, I am confirming today that, for purposes of federal law, these marriages will be recognized as lawful and considered eligible for all relevant federal benefits on the same terms as other same-sex marriages.”

Another example of the loss of States rights and an over baring piece of garbage we call the entire Federal Government. Communism has take control and your freedom is a thing of the past. By the way, miss Romney yet. Watch out or 2014 will go the same way with the Senate race.

By the way, miss Romney yet.

Mitt's single election victory in his 20 year career, gave America "gay marriage".

Here is Mitt Romney 20 years ago.

"" For some voters it might be enough for me to simply match my opponent’s record in this area. But I believe we can and must do better. If we are to achieve the goals we share, we must make equality for gays and lesbians a mainstream concern. My opponent cannot do this. I can and will.""

""One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clinton’s “don’t ask, don’t tell, don’t pursue” military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nation’s military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share.""

""As we begin the final phase of this campaign, I need your support more than ever. By working together, we will achieve the goals we share for Massachusetts and our Nation.""
Sincerely, W. Mitt Romney

Why has Willard never ran for the Democrat nomination where he would have had a more comfortable fit with his political philosophy ???

His father George Romney played both sides when he was running for gov of Michigan..

It was only when both the Republicans and the Democrats got together and got in his face and told him if he didn’t stop playing around they would leave him that he was forced to choose one or the other..

He begrudgingly decided to run for the R ticket and won the governorship..

but he was always resentful towards the Republicans and thought they owed him something..

that’s why he went to the GOP convention in 1964 thinking he was a shoe in for the POTUS nomination..

Well the unpopular liberal George only got 40 votes while the Conservative Barry Goldwater got 800+ and won..

George stomped out of the convention followed by the weak impressionable teenage Willard and went and helped Johnson win just to show those Republicans you cant do that to a Romney...

George always hated Goldwater and his best friend Ronald Reagan and he taught Willard to hate Conservatives too and to just use them for his own ends...

just as Willard did in 2008 and more so in 2012..

and hes trying it again for 2016..

Willard hates the TEA Party and all that they stand for..

Right now hes got his hand in the air testing the winds of opinion..

as in the past about a week after Governor Sarah Palin, or Senator Cruz or another Conservative leader says something about the Utah same sex marriage travesty that goes over big with Conservatives, Willard will repeat it as though it originated with him...

He hardly ever fails to do that..

but he is never the first to come out and say something..

he likes to lead from behind ...

although his RomneyBots will act as though what Willard said was the greatest thing since sliced bread..

Let’s look on the bright-side of the issue and welcome our newly weds with,(the IRS special) the marriage penalty.
Filing separately they were at a distinct advantage, however filing as a married couple they stand to lose thousands.
Marriage penalties are not confined to the tax system. Married couples often receive lower benefits from government programs than they would if they had not married.
